Anyone else ill with a nasty cold/virus?

I feel so shit. I have an incredibly sore throat, pain killers hardly touch the pain. Hot and cold shivering, can’t get warm enough. Aches all over my body.

18mo DS is poorly too, just so sad and very warm.

Anyone else suffering too?

My DH had this before any of us and it’s taken him about 5 days to feel better though the sore throat still lingers. Hopefully it doesn’t take us too long either.

Someone said my cough sounds like their dog barking!

I had it at the weekend. I haven’t had a cold in years. I felt a bit rough on Saturday and the next day had an appalling cold. Constant sneezing, running nose, felt sick. Couldn’t get warm, had to go back to bed I felt so bad. I was okay on Monday but today I feel shattered and run down.

I've been sick since 12 November - heavy cold, sinusitis a few days later followed by tonsillitis 😭

Finally on the mend I hope

kids have just had a weird one, tag teamed though so a week off each but not at the same time. started with violent sickness for a day or so then hacking cough, fever and headaches for a few days knocked them both over for a good 5 days and then a day or two to recover. I haven/t had it yet though. Porbably get it next week when am sposed to be off.

Dd has what we thought was a virus but it is in fact covid. Sore throat, aches, loss of appetite, sleepy. Was better for a day but napped this afternoon and has a cough this evening.

You sent him to nursery to out other families in your position?

Sorry -I've had this for a month! Just about coming out of the other side this week. The extreme fatigue has been awful- I WFH - luckily my lunch break has consisted of an hour asleep on my bed just to get through the rest of the day.
Barking cough/sore throat/fuzzy head/shivering then sweating but no high temp-I would have had to be off sick if I had to physically go to the office or had a job that was physical.
Tested negative for covid all through- wasn't flu but then wasn't just a cold- lot of nausea/throwing up as well. Sympathy to everyone. I've put off my flu jab and covid booster because I could not face feeling even worse than I've been.

I've been ill for over a week now. Sore swollen throat and I'm just utterly exhausted. The back of my throat has been gunky but I thankfully haven't had a cough or other cold-like symptoms which DH has right now. We got ill at exactly the same time and we're pretty sure it's something that DD brought home from school as she's had a bit of a cough/cold.

Normally when I get a sore throat I struggle to eat but I've been fine that way, although I've been drinking hot tea constantly and I'm usually a coffee drinker.

had this on and off for nearly 2 months, started off like sinus pain, lots of mucus then moved down into sore throat and stomach pains. Hardly ate anything but soup , had lots of clammy skin and shivers but no temperature. Gets better for a few days then slaps me down again. Tested negative for Covid, but since having Covid twice in first half of year i seem to go from one bout of illness to another.

Until this evening DSs only symptoms were runny nose and slight cough. Which he’s had a for over a week anyway because we had a different cold (just a normal cold) last week. All of the babies have coughs an cold at the moment.

Nursery are absolutely fine with them going in with cold symptoms, now he has a temperature we’ll keep him off. I don’t think we’re being unreasonable.

Dd 15 has been ill for just over 14 days with a cold she's just starting to feel better.
Ds 5 has been ill for 3-4 days with a cold and he's just getting over it now.
Ds 1 is now coughing and has a snotty nose.
Hopefully 12 day old don't catch it.
I feel rough but not showing any signs of a cold seem to have a constant headache though.

Horrible bug, still not well a week on. Do recommend co-codamol for the throat pain though.

3rd day hence why I'm up at this time. Feel absolutely crap. Had to cancel all plans gor this weekend.
Eaten a bowl of porridge in 2 days and that was a struggle

I still can believe how much the sore throat hurts.

Ive spent the night on the very edge of the bed cosleeping with DS, he was so sad on his own, waking up every 30 minutes or so. But I can’t help but feel like the lack of sleep really won’t help my recovery

My throat feels raw and my ears hurt. I actually don’t think I’ve ever had a sore throat like this.
I’ve done several lateral flows and all negative.

Its the cough that is driving me mad ! Been ill since Thursday first day was sleepy fell asleep afternoon after leaving work early Friday cough and headache really kicked in so did lack of sleep from coughing. All over weekend had terrible fever been alternating lemsip capsules and nurofen. Just got 4hrs straight sleep so hoping finally over the worst as longest I have had since Thursday night. Every covid test was negative too. Wishing you all a speedy recovery

Yes! The worst cold! Currently sat awake for the third night in a row as it's moved into my sinuses and my face hurts!

Everything you’ve all said I feel. For three days I’ve been utterly exhausted and at night I seem to get worse and can’t sleep for more than 1 hour at a time.
I’m just recovering from chemo and still in cancer treatment. I’ve not been out of bed for three days - I had so many plans :(

I'm like this too. Face just hurts everywhere. I can't sleep. I'm shivering with the heating on and the duvet on. I'm going to have to take tomorrow off too because I can't face sitting upright.
Oh and dp (don't live together) hasn't really bothered asking how I am or if he can help, so he's now ex-dp.

@PositiveLife oh I know it's so painful! My DP just keeps saying how it's good my coughs getting better.. I can't sleep and my face hurts!!!

The shivers, the aches, the cough, the headache, the nausea. It’s bloody awful.

This thread cursed me.

I saw it last night and thought "no, thank god, not yet!" And this morning I've woken up feeling like death.

Half of our school is off with it, but nobody's testing positive for covid. DS had a raging 48 temperature and my DDs are only just going back today after being home since Friday.

Never seen a normal winter virus so... Virulent!

Does anyone think it’s this years flu? I didn’t have the flu jab.
