Anyone else ill with a nasty cold/virus?

I feel so shit. I have an incredibly sore throat, pain killers hardly touch the pain. Hot and cold shivering, can’t get warm enough. Aches all over my body.

18mo DS is poorly too, just so sad and very warm.

Anyone else suffering too?

My DH had this before any of us and it’s taken him about 5 days to feel better though the sore throat still lingers. Hopefully it doesn’t take us too long either.

I've got it. Been in bed for 3 days, feel so poorly. 12 weeks pregnant too which isn't helping. Feel nauseous, exhausted, blocked nose, tickly cough, sore eyes, blinding headache. Today started with a weird smell in my nose like a burning rubber smell. Currently got my head over a bowl of hot water with olbas oil in it for the steam.

DH not helping. Making me feel like I should be getting up and doing housework. He says he doesn't like me being ill but I know that's because he has to feed himself and do housework. Dishes, washing, housework not been done all week. I am dragging myself out of bed to make sure cats are fed at least and DD is fed.

howhardisittogettyres · 26/11/2022 18:02

Me too. Been in bed for 2 days. Finally got dressed today and popped out. 20 minutes later was home. Snot just keeps coming. Throat hurts.

It's shit

nicky2512 · 26/11/2022 19:14

I have just given up on today completely. Have done absolutely nothing.
Dh went and got chippy and that hasn’t even helped. Nothing tastes right. Feel awful.
I have avoided covid for two and a half years but I honestly don’t think it could be any worse than this.

Same timescale here. Tight chest and endless cough are the only remaining symptom. Have you found anything that helps?

Finally contacted the Drs yesterday via their online response form and got a callback from a Dr. She gave me an immediate prescription for 5 day course of antibiotics. Last night I couldn’t get my breath on 2 occasions due to coughing so much- scary at the time. Hope you feel better soon.

doodleygirl · 26/11/2022 19:56

Me, had to cancel a planned night out with friends, I was so looking forward to it. Feel very sorry for myself.

Hope everyone gets better soon.

ErinAndTonic · 26/11/2022 19:58

YES!

Just had a sudden unexpected vomit situation as well, the cat ran for it as I almost got her, poor thing! happy Saturday night 🤣🤣

TheWeeDonkeys · 26/11/2022 20:14

I’ve been ill since Sunday, started with a sore throat then came the snot. I managed 2 days in work then I’ve been on the couch since then!
Awful sore throat, full of snot, phelmy coughs and today it all feels like I’ve got blocked ears and zoned out.

All had it here, can't shift the cough or chest infection, two lots of antibiotics and still have a cough and chest infection. X
I think Covid has mutated into another virus.
(No positive tests) but similar symptoms. X

I was literally saying this same thing yesterday. It is covid but it has mutated in a way that evades the lateral flow tests. I felt the exact same way I did when I had covid yet none of the tests I did were positive. Still no sense of taste or smell back and it's been 3 weeks. DH has the worst cough: chest infection that not even antibiotics has shifted.

paulmccartneysbagel · 27/11/2022 07:50

I've been feeling awful since Wednesday. Was convinced it is covid as I feel exactly the same as when I had it last Christmas. But negative tests!

lionsandwhales · 27/11/2022 09:51

It’s reached our 2DS schools and our house. Covid neg. Flu like with deep painful cough and shortness of breath, a lower respiratory infection. Worry for NHS , if this little beauty is making fit and well people really poorly, there will be lots of people with pre-existing illnesses needing medical attention. GP will fob most off leaving urgent care and a&es to take the hit.

HazeyjaneIII · 27/11/2022 09:56

I had something a few weeks ago...razor blade throat, temperature, headache..negative tests.
Now dh, the dds and ds all have similar and are all testing positive. DS is really poorly, and has spent been vomiting since yesterday as well.
Asbim th only one that hasn't come down with it (as yet) I'm wondering if it was actually Covid I had.

TheBeesKnee · 23/11/2022 23:43

Yes, awful! This is my third cold/bug this season. My throat is raw, my chest kind of burns. I'm pregnant and have been vomiting a fair bit recently, so it's hard to say if these symptoms are caused, or worsened by, the morning sickness.

Also exhausted and keep going to bed between meetings 😭

Oh you poor thing!! Morning sickness is awful without the horrible coldy virus on top. Hope you're feeling better now!

FireworkFluster · 27/11/2022 10:06

I haven't had a cold for ages but I started with a runny nose yesterday, and today awful raw sore throat, head and neck ache and sneezing a lot. No energy, and truly grateful to have an empty nest so I can be cranky and miserable in peace!

colouringindoors · 27/11/2022 11:44

Day 10 and not much better and I have to work next week or no £££.

Has anything helped anyone?

AuntieMarys · 27/11/2022 12:54

I feel better but can't taste or smell anything? Not much point bloody eating. I am also very angry because I am not doing what I want to do. Just cleaned the house, changed the bed and am now as bored as hell.

PinkPlantCase · 27/11/2022 13:19

This morning was the first morning when I woke up and my throat actually hurt less than the day before, I was able to move around the house and be a bit helpful for an hour or so but now I’m back on the sofa.

I’m on day 6 now. The GP gave me antibiotics on Friday because my throat was so swollen and painful.

DH and DS are much better now, they were able to shake it off without any antibiotics. DS is left with a cough that’s still quite bad at night but he’s managed well in the day today without painkillers. DH is very tired but he has been running everything, all the cooking etc. and attending to DS in the night so I’m not surprised he feels knackered.

Sorry to hear that so many people are feeling poorly, it sounds like there’s a few different things going around.

One of the worst parts about covid for us was about how much the lockdowns trashed our immune systems, all the bugs seems to flatten us now instead of just having sniffles.

How's everyone doing? I've had 36 hrs of rest and prob feel a little better. Chest hurts but i think just because I've been coughing for 11 days. Pretty certain it's clear. Throat still sore but bit better, still massive headache and sinus ache - they're still full of gunk. Have to go to work tomorrow, outside. First day of seasonal job which I really need for the £££ but bit frightened I'm going to get worse.... not fun.

MotherOfPuffling · 29/11/2022 20:13

Day 12 / 13 here. Started to recover from the flu bug after about 5 days, then went downhill again. Finally saw doctor today, who said the original virus weakened the immune system enough for a bacterial chest infection to take hold. Antibiotics + steroid tablets for the breathing issues. Talk about it doesn’t rain but it pours…

JosephFrancis · 29/11/2022 20:21

Had to go back to work today. So exhausted. I’ve had 5 days of antibiotics and I just feel awful still. Not ill per se, just groggy, tight chest (painful in the middle) still coughing, no energy, just want to be in a blanket nest.

Bigbadfish · 29/11/2022 20:32

Only read the OP but I have those exact symptoms and I have Covid. There is a mild cough but that's not the main symptoms.

tresleches · 29/11/2022 20:36

Hurrah! Sorry but it's nice to feel part of something.. Started last Thursday with a horrific acidic-feeling post-nasal drip, then the excruciating throat kicked in, fevers and shivers, and I've barely left the house since. Sleep has been minimal, thanks to the coughing.

Then I spent 1am to 5am last night hacking up brown phlegm and today I felt a bit better. Taking tomorrow off too, throat still hurts and I have no energy or brain to speak of. It's been grim.

PositiveLife · 30/11/2022 11:27

I had 3 days off work, mostly sleeping. Rested over the weekend and went back to work (from home) on Monday. Still have the cough and sleeping propped up on pillows but a lot better than I was.

colouringindoors · 30/11/2022 12:41

Coughed less last night and had loads of sleep but still feel abs exhausted. Seriously fed up. 2 weeks now...

HazeyjaneIII · 30/11/2022 13:05

Ugh, well ds's Covid turned out to be particularly nasty and has landed him in hospital for the last 3 nights...

MissMaple82 · 30/11/2022 13:16

Yes me! I feel positively dreadful, I feel I need antibiotics but I don't even have the energy to get myself to the doctors, I'm just wasting away in bed. And I've pulled a muscle through coughing
