Well said Rachel Reeves

"There's global agreement to get global multinationals to pay their fair share of taxes... some of these global multinationals can afford to fly to space, but they can't afford to pay their taxes on planet earth..."

@DowningStreetParty

Great post

the80sweregreat · 13/11/2022 10:14

The tories always blame the global economy
They rarely admit that any of it was anything to do with them
They spent too much during the pandemic.

the80sweregreat · 13/11/2022 10:18

Laura K giving Ms Reeves a hard time of it whilst gazing longingly at Mr Hunt
She makes my blood boil

DuncinToffee · 13/11/2022 10:18

Hunt once refereed a kids football match at my son's club. The club was told it was low level, something he just liked to do.

Then he showed up with his PR person, photographer, the League's head of refereeing and 2 assistant referees. All for a 40 minute under 10's game that is usually refereed by a 16 year old.

It was ridiculous.

Yep. As usual, Laura was rather harsh on her.

LK’s demeanour is off. Her body language and tone of voice conveys disrespect and disbelief when talking to Opposition politicians. She could do with some lessons on how to appear less biased.

I absolutely LOVED that response.

Such a simple statement that says so much.

DuncinToffee · 13/11/2022 11:10

That former PM's line up.......

Elodie09 · 13/11/2022 16:52

Totally agree with pp's re LK being biased with how she interviews Tory people compared to Labour. She interrupts and talks over them all the time. I won't be watching it much longer as she is so awful , I don't know what has happened to her. FB is same on QT, I love it when they show her face looking so sarky at Labour mp's responses! The BBC should not be biased but ...... I quite like her on the other show she does though, the Antiques road show.
I am seriously concerned to read that George (Gideon ) Osborne was reportedly recruited to advise Hunt. The man who wrote the original austerity plan. What an absolute crock.

mibbelucieachwell · 13/11/2022 16:55

I'm glad it's not just me who thinks Jeremy Hunt is almost smiling/smirking when he patiently explains to us thickos how he has to make "eye-watering" decisions. I wonder if he told the Kuensberg team that he would appear on the program the week before the budget - when he can hide behind his refusal to answer Q's with the claim that all is about to be revealed, in the correct way - but not any other week.

Wow @DuncinToffee at his reffing an under 10s. match for 'fun' with an unannounced press officer and photographer.

pointythings · 13/11/2022 17:35

It'll be another budget that hammers the poorest hardest and spares the richest.

the80sweregreat · 13/11/2022 17:58

Hunt is Loving this
They always hide behind the whole 'global forces ' or ' worse in other countries'
We can see through it !

itsgettingweird · 13/11/2022 18:31

pointythings · 13/11/2022 17:35

It'll be another budget that hammers the poorest hardest and spares the richest.

Hunt said it wouldn't.

Which pretty much guarantees it will!

Anyone else noticed since it's clear Labour are streaks ahead they've started taking some of their party lines?

tobee · 13/11/2022 20:37

I really thought they'd be ditching any kind of "we're all in it together", we're all going to suffer, rhetoric. Don't look that great coming from a Sunak led government.

itsgettingweird · 13/11/2022 20:42

Anyone also noticed that Hunts budget is predicted to be extended into 25/26 and some things into 2027?

Bit presumptuous when we have a GE in Jan 2025.

I think that's a ploy to use in their campaigning. "We've done this - now we are here - vote for us and we can start to reverse these measures".

Especially as watching America will also be worrying them.

jgw1 · 13/11/2022 20:50

The November prediction shows a big improvement from the October one for the Tories. By 2050, they might have re-established themselves at that rate of progress.

pointythings · 13/11/2022 20:54

@jgw1 oh I do like those numbers, I hope the Tories continue fucking it up.

tobee · 13/11/2022 21:07

Just peacefully watching a documentary on PBS America about the negotiations for the armistice of World War I and Kwarsi Kwarteng turned up to talk about Lloyd George. He's got that Old Etonian voice that he shares with Johnson but without the ridiculous Johnson "bwarr!"

DuncinToffee · 14/11/2022 09:47

Oh FFS

James Clevery responds to a report identifying at least half of the treasury short fall - a staggering £30bn - is down to the Truss/Kwarteng fiasco:
^^
“I don’t necessarily agree with those figures, but I’m not an economist.”

OP posts:
Piggywaspushed · 14/11/2022 09:51

Hunt tried ' I don't agree with those figures ' yesterday too. They were from the IFS...

DuncinToffee · 14/11/2022 10:02

The 'I don't agree' is doing a lot of the heavy lifting.

Here are the facts, I don't agree with those facts but I believe in unicorns.

Liars.

Officials in Dominic Raab’s private office at the Foreign Office claim they were “bullied and harassed”, according to staff survey leaked

Deputy PM Dominic Raab now faces bullying allegations from civil servants in MoJ, DExEU and FCDO (read the story on the latter as more nuanced) - all of which he denies. Silence so far from government

Front page of the Guardian this morning ''Up to 1 in 3 hospital beds occupied by patients fit for discharge''

Can't see how the NHS can survive this

Their decades long plans to destroy the health service are coming to fruition

Bastards. Utter bastards

Piggywaspushed · 14/11/2022 10:50

When the Tories took over the NHS was actually the most efficient health service in the world. It's a scandal of epic proportions.

the80sweregreat · 14/11/2022 11:07

They have always run down the NHS because they are now relying on normal people paying for ops : my neighbours are conservatives ( although they are now the reform party ) and they have paid privately for things in order to jump the queues. If they had done this under a Labour Party they would have moaned about it
It cost thousands
