NEW: Tories appoint an Egyptian-born billionaire and former minister under Mubarak regime to be one of senior fundraisers before next election - story by @rowenamason

twitter.com/pippacrerar/status/1603020948675989505?s=46&t=pNWO2hqMn6ZAc7cZkuWg3w

Mansour comes from a wealthy family. He was Minister for Transport in Egypt for 3 years under Mubarak. Luckily Mansour is now a British citizen.

Mansour donated £600, 000 to the Conservatives.

Obviously not splashed enough cash though as the new Treasurer has donated a million pounds to the party.

"The role of Conservative party treasurer has proved controversial in recent years as nine of them have gone on to receive peerages."

What an absolute 🤬that man is.

Fladdermus · 14/12/2022 14:56

Thank heavens for that. The moment you start overriding human rights they cease to be human rights and become privileges. Not a path anyone should want to go down.

DuncinToffee · 14/12/2022 14:57

5 new complaints against Raab, taking it to 8 official complaints confrms No 10.

Update from Dan Bloom

You might have to steady yourself for this bombshell... Boris Johnson, who Jonathan Gullis highlighted as backing his Bill, did not vote on the Bill today.

Neither did Jacob Rees-Mogg or Nadine Dorries. Priti Patel did vote in favour though.

OP posts:
Notonthestairs · 14/12/2022 15:22

That's strange. Were Johnson, Dorries & JRM suddenly indisposed?

In fairness I suppose Johnson might have been "working" elsewhere.

DuncinToffee · 14/12/2022 15:31

The Mirror has a list of who voted in favour

Astonished and delighted to see my MP didn’t vote for it. Oddly Braverman doesn’t appear to have done either. In fact she’s been very quiet recently.

Roussette · 14/12/2022 16:01

Thank God my useless MP didn't vote for this, I might've had to hit the Gin tonight if he had. He is my most unfavourite person at the moment for his twaddle he wrote on voter supression.

pointythings · 14/12/2022 16:54

Mine didn't either, but since he is Matt Hancock he is whipless.

God that's a list of ruffians!

Notonthestairs · 14/12/2022 18:01

"God that's a list of ruffians!"

Looks like most of the ERG & CSG.
Secret Seven & Famous Five obviously abstained.

Absolutely.

There isn't anyone who doesn't think we need control of immigration.

But there is such a divide on humane treatment and just deporting people whatever.

I'm most upset that people genuinely believe that those who take journeys - like the one this morning - are economic migrants seeking our jobs and benefits.

Do people really genuinely believe those people got on a boat in the dark in freezing temperatures in the middle of winter - selling everything they own to do so - and risking their lives - aren't seriously fleeing something horrendous.

I can't grasp that anyone would choose that route unless absolutely desperate. I don't think I could be so brave.

itsgettingweird · 14/12/2022 18:19

DuncinToffee · 14/12/2022 15:31

Braverman isn't on the list?

Notonthestairs · 14/12/2022 18:22

Braverman will be required to stand by Sunak's proposals (for now).

Blossomtoes · 14/12/2022 18:41

I’d go further, Braverman will have to do as she’s told if she wants to keep her job.

Notonthestairs · 14/12/2022 18:46

I agree Blossom. Suspect it would have pained her not to vote in favour.

I noticed Braverman's mentor John Hayes (the one she leaked documents to) voted in favour.

I'm sure she's just biding her time.

Sunak has them all biting at his heels.

Seems so. Have you seen this thread:

The lack of humanity is astounding.

DuncinToffee · 14/12/2022 19:16

The depressing thing is that that thread is not even that bad by MN standards

Boris Johnson has declared £754,652.21 in earnings from three speeches he's given, received less than three months after he left No 10 on 6/9/12.

Why is the taxayer paying his legal fees

OP posts:
Blossomtoes · 14/12/2022 21:45

Because he’s a greedy bastard who hates spending his own money.

DuncinToffee · 14/12/2022 21:59

There is more, he also continues to accept free accommodation worth £3,500 a month from a rich mate.

£3500.00 a month is quite cheap for Bamford.
Wiki says - During the 2019 general election campaign Bamford donated £3,935,984 to the Conservative Party.

DuncinToffee · 15/12/2022 09:10

Well said

Maria Caulfield(Health Minister) - For every 1% increase in pay we have to find £700m, & there's only 3 ways to find that money...borrow or put taxes up...

Niall Paterson - Or not waste £30b on useless PPE

twitter.com/Haggis_UK/status/1603292566694367235?t=ecYttNVX_nEEDNWzVzedvQ&s=19

(on later programs, she upped to £800m)
