By irrational decisions does he mean things like the guy who decided to appoint a known sex pest, and then acted surprised that the same person was a sex pest, but still tried to defend said sex pest?
Or that to appointment a Minister of State who was in post for 24hours?
Or that to have a Prime Minister for months who had no support from anyone for months after they announced they were resigning because their lies had finally caught up with them?

DuncinToffee · 02/12/2022 17:02

I am surprised he didn't blame Corbyn for the weather whilst he was at it

Any insiders information on your man jgw1?

We’ve just received a tip off that @michaelgove will be making an important statement to his local association this evening. Perhaps he will be joining @sajidjavid in the departure lounge?

Surely not, the next Prime Minister has this very week announced that he will introduce a policy that Gove has made clear his support for.

That would be very sad, much better to see his lovely face looking all forlorn when he gets booted by the electorate.

Notonthestairs · 02/12/2022 17:24

Well, looks like Sunak is going to have his hands full. A dozen plus Tory MPs with nothing to lose and no cares about deselection.

(I suddenly have that image of Nicole Kidman post divorce from Tom Cruise in my mind!)

Has Sunak announced he is stepping down at the next election yet, to spend more time with his wife's billions?

tobee · 02/12/2022 19:25

Anything from Gove yet?

He's such a strange chap. Maybe he will go back to tv? Be the new Portillo. Instead of Bradshaw's train journeys he could do Great Clubbing and Colombian Marching Powder Venues?

L1ttledrummergirl · 02/12/2022 20:48

According to his webpage he announced the results of a Christmas card competition he delegated someone to judge for him.

I'm going to scrub my eyes now for venturing onto the page...

DuncinToffee · 02/12/2022 20:59

That was at a school earlier today (I ventured onto his twitter page), he also planted a tree somewhere.

Probably just false alarm but I enjoyed reading the replies on that LibDem thread.

Apparently it's rumoured, according to the R4 morning news programme that 70 con mps won't stand again.

Given how well they are doing in government I find this exodus rather surprising. Surely they would wish to continue the good work that this government has only just started?

DuncinToffee · 03/12/2022 14:10

MPs have been told to announce one way or another by 5 Dec.

I saw a graph (can't remember where) that showed the age and experience of MPs who have announced they won't stand. Labour and Lib Dems were mostly the older ones, so retiring, Cons had many more younger and newer ones.

Yes sorry for that, he has announced that he will stand again because he is “addicted to public service”

So Conor Burns has whip restored. There's been so many allegations against MPs I had forgotten which one he was. The knee toucher.

And so he should have, it was just a left wing media witch hunt by the Daily Mail and others.

Notonthestairs · 03/12/2022 17:15

A senior Tory MP reported to police by colleagues over allegations of rape and sexual assault was previously warned by whips about his behaviour.
The man was referred to the Metropolitan Police by fellow Tories on October 28. Scotland Yard has yet to open an investigation but said that it had received allegations “via a third party”.
Whips were first made aware of concerns about the MP’s behaviour several years ago regarding younger party staff, although it did not relate to claims of rape or allegations of assault.
They say they arranged a meeting with the MP and told him about the behaviour after several Tory MPs raised concerns with whips. They said “talk in the tea room was getting out of control”.

From the Times.

Worrying about talk in the tearoom not the victims.
I feel as if people simply shrug their shoulders at these stories but they are shocking.

"A third Conservative MP is on bail over allegations of rape and has been told to avoid parliament. That MP has been bailed until February next year."
Pincher is still has the Whip as does Rob Roberts.
Currently Six MPs are suspended due to sexual assault allegations.

Who the hell are they recruiting to be MPs?

It shows how low the moral bar has been set by the tories. While in government they set the tone for the nation, and right now they are saying it's OK to treat people badly for your own gratification. Any tory MP with a sense of decency would be speaking out about this lack of concern, and/ resigning the whip.

They don't care.

Well said.

Everything that is currently happening shows the party don't care.

However the sheer number of MPs not standing again shows there are many who do - if they can speak out we can have a little hope for the politics of this country.

I hope so but the clearing out in 2019 just shows us that there is a ready supply of unjustifiably superior bunch of devils arsewipes ready to step into the vacuum.

From the Times

Ramfoam was contracted to produce 71 million visors. But according to official data, 51 million of those amounting to £108 million worth of equipment were consigned to the “do not supply [to the NHS]” category.
The products failed to pass safety tests, had exceeded their use-by date, or were deemed inappropriate for other reasons.
And do you know we are still paying to store the unusable PPE? Ludicrous waste of public money when we cant support nurses.

Shameless is spot on. Zahawi has been making a tit of himself for years now.
