Why are so many women so obsessed with having girls?

(Not all women of course.)

But it seems to be so common that pregnant women are desperate for a baby girl! Why is this?!

3 of my friends who had babies around the same time as me were so disappointed to find out they were having boys and have made a point to "keep trying until they have a girl"

I'm not trying to be goady I just genuinely cannot think of why baby girls are so favoured over baby boys?

I disagree. I know mothers who were great mothers to their sons and had close relationships but it has broken down somewhat into adulthood with daughters remaining closer. To presume good parenting stops that from potentially happening is naive.

Agree. My own mother is a nurse and has spent her career managing elderly nursing homes. It is overwhelmingly daughters who visit often/enquire about their parents care etc.

The thing is if I was a boy mum I just wouldn’t want to hear all this, it’s pointless. But it’s invariably what comes up when a boy mum starts a ‘why do women want girls’ thread, so it’s an own goal really.

I have sons. I don’t think it’s pointless to discuss it but at the same I’m not here actively worrying about it. What will be will be as they say.
