And will this finally rid of us Jacob Rees Mogg and his ilk?

I wish we could kick Mogg back to the 19th century.

therubbiliser · 24/10/2022 14:08

He will be trying to reunite the Tories he will have a certain amount of Boris supporters in to ensure that happens.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 24/10/2022 14:09

A statue of Ganesh?
In his Cabinet, now, that might be different.

Whataretheodds · 24/10/2022 14:10

ERG made a statement about 40 mins ago declaring they would get behind whoever the winner is. So hopefully they will stand by their word and fall into line.

AnyFucker · 24/10/2022 14:10

Hopefully: Ben Wallace stays as Defence Sec

Penny M as Home Sec

Keep J Hunt as Chancellor

Kemi B in there somewhere

Patel Out. Rees Mogg out.

WildRosie · 24/10/2022 14:13

I think Grant Shapps, Jeremy Hunt and Penny Mourdant will stay as they are. For now. I echo those who would like to see the back of Jacob Rees Mogg. Boris Johnson to remain as a backbencher.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 24/10/2022 14:14

Dorries and Mogg sent to the back benches, please. I assume Hunt will stay as Chancellor. Are there any clever and reasonably sane people in the Tory party? If so, I hope he knows who they are and can find a job for them. This country needs a period of relative calm while we try to get through this coming winter.

Potato28 · 24/10/2022 14:14

I dont think it matters!
Its such a mess!!!

PaulGallico · 24/10/2022 14:16

Therese Coffey needs to go.

TicketToRideFan · 24/10/2022 14:21

Hunt will stay IMHO.

Mordaunt will get a big job I reckon.

Coffey, JRM and Dorries will disappear into obscurity.

Boris to the back benches - will be even stand as an MP next time?

Judging by the way things have been going the last few weeks, I think anyone in the UK would probably do !

hopeishere · 24/10/2022 14:23

Julian Smith for NI

Someone decent for health

Rees-Mogg to the backbench

flamingogold · 24/10/2022 14:23

Gove will be back immediately. Agree hunt will stay as chancellor.

Mosik · 24/10/2022 14:24

I hope he gets Javid back to replace Coffrey. The NHS isn't top of the list but it's teetering on the edge.

EndlessMagpies · 24/10/2022 14:25

I don't care who is in the cabinet as long as it isn't Nadine Dorries.

AnyFucker · 24/10/2022 14:26

Yeah, T Coffey out too

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 24/10/2022 14:27

I absolutely loathe Michael Gove as a person, but when Johnson sacked him in a spiteful fit of pique a few months ago I was surprised by the number of non-Tories who made a point of saying what a good Housing Minister he'd been, making a real difference in various low-key but important ways, working hard, polite, taking an interest, meeting a wide range of people, etc etc. All the things I want Cabinet Ministers to be, in short. So if he comes back, fair enough.

User123758 · 24/10/2022 14:33

Gove has changed his approach and seems generally well thought of. I think he’ll be back. Raab might also be back

Whataplanker · 24/10/2022 14:36

Mordaunt Home Sec I think.
Jeremy Hunt to stay where he is for some stability.
Nadhim Zahawi probably in there some where considering all the brown nosing he has been doing.

TokyoSushi · 24/10/2022 14:37

I'd say Gove, Raab & Javid will be back. I'm not sure he'll keep Shapps at the Home Office. He'll keep Shapps in the Cabinet I'd say, but in a less 'big' job.

I think Mordaunt quite fancied the Foreign Office but Cleverly seems to have been quite well received, so perhaps shift Shapps somewhere and give Mordaunt Home Sec.

I think he'll keep Hunt as is. Who gets health will be quite a big one. Would Gove want that?

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 24/10/2022 14:40

Does it matter at this point, I assume they'll only be in position for a couple of days.

We've had a different chancellor of the exchequer every month for the last 4 months. It's completely ridiculous. No work seems to have actually been done in parliament since June (if not earlier) with all the changes and instability.

Shiningstarr · 24/10/2022 14:42

Therese Coffey needs to go, she's a massive hypocrite and I can't take anything she says seriously.

AutumnCrow · 24/10/2022 14:43

Penny Mordaunt is thick as mince, hard as nails, and duplicitous. A bit like Therese Coffey without the modicom of intellect. Keeping her as Leader of House probably does least damage if he has to accommodate her.

Coffey is brutal. I hope he bins her.

I hope he bins the lot of them - Braverman, Mogg, Shapps, Raab, Patel, Kwarteng, etc etc. They have fucked us over.

Crikeyalmighty · 24/10/2022 14:46

@Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g I know someone reasonably high up in civil service based in Westminster who says Gove was one of the few Tory cabinet ministers who was fully on top of his brief and very approachable and hard working too- so although I don't like him I get why you would give him a post

nokitchen · 24/10/2022 14:51

I think he'll have Hunt, Javed, Badenoch and some back benchers who are not on the radar
