Kemi Badenoch is still a dreadful person though.

tobee · 25/10/2022 21:41

On the other hand it's good to have family changing cubicles for men to take their kids to (of either sex) as used to be just in the women's change rooms as did nappy change. How many times have you thought "these loo cubicles were designed by men! I have to jenga myself round this loo to close the door! Shit I need to wash my hands after a period flood in communal basins!"

Sorry bit of an (off topic) rant and maybe tmi!

Piggywaspushed · 25/10/2022 21:51

Everything is designed by men. Seat belts, kitchen cabinet heights ...

Although talking of men heights (stretching the link here Grin) I learnt from The News Agents podcast that Sunak second shortest PM. After Churchill. Who was only about 5ft 6 inches! That's only just taller than me.

So we're Truss, May and Thatcher all taller? Or did they just mean male PMs? 🤔

Where in the UK has open plan changing rooms?

Every fell race I have been to has had open plan changing rooms, also known as a field. I presume this is what is being refered to.

Piggywaspushed · 25/10/2022 22:07

They mean male PMs.... Thatcher was 5 ft 5.

L1ttledrummergirl · 25/10/2022 22:14

My dc do a physical sport which is segregated by sex and weight. Ds has a massive advantage over dd despite them falling into the same weight category because of his sex advantages.

This is one area where self ID concerns me because potentially in competition dd could be seriously hurt.

This tory government worries me more though as they are trampling over the British people with impunity. Same shit, different day, different face at the top.

We need them out ASAP.

You see both Churchill and Thatcher; most people would think they were statuesque! Grin

Thread from Ed Conway about the possibility that the Medium Term Fiscal Plan might get pushed back - and why that might not be as bad as it sounds.

"Some speculation tonight that the medium term fiscal plan might be pushed back from 31 Oct.
Here's one train of thought abt why this might well happen. Remember part of the reason the MTFP was brought forward was so it could precede the @bankofengland decision next Thurs."

Liz Truss the shortest British Prime Minister of course

I was getting even more annoyed with the references to the first PM was wasn't a Christian. Did Disraeli get removed from the history books while I wasn't looking. I was so glad to hear Kevin Maguire putting that one right last night.

Disraeli was an Anglican (although Jewish by ethnicity.)

Kemi Badenoch is still a dreadful person though.

Completely!

I'll never get over her comments in education.

She hasn't the first clue

TomPinch · 26/10/2022 05:53

Although I'd argue that Boris Johnson worshipped Boris Johnson while in office so it's correct to say that Sunak is not the first non-Christian PM.

the80sweregreat · 26/10/2022 07:14

Tompinch , that made me lol!
Boris Johnson is but a cult !

the80sweregreat · 26/10/2022 07:26

Anyone fed up with the old lines 'you don't vote for a leader , only your own MP' as one of the reason we can't have a GE?
I still maintain that the majority of the press would be screaming for one under any kind of left wing government that was in power behaving as the conservatives have done this past year ( let alone 12 )

jgw1 · 26/10/2022 07:34

TomPinch · 26/10/2022 05:53

Although I'd argue that Boris Johnson worshipped Boris Johnson while in office so it's correct to say that Sunak is not the first non-Christian PM.

There is certainly no evidence that his behaviour is in any way christian.

Piggywaspushed · 26/10/2022 07:44

Definitely 80s. t is the Tories themselves, and Boris fans, who repeatedly tell us that 'Boris wins elections'. Apparently not. It was his MPs what won it.

But everything in Labour was still Corbyn's fault.

HelensToenail · 26/10/2022 07:46

Isn't Boris Johnson some kind of Catholic

Got married in Westminster Cathedral

Allergic to contraception?

the80sweregreat · 26/10/2022 07:47

Boris Johnson is a Catholic when it suits him to be one.

the80sweregreat · 26/10/2022 07:55

I don't really discuss politics outside this forum or thread , but there are a couple of memes doing the rounds on social media which is mocking Rishi Sunak's heritage and I am shocked at some of the comments and the people I know on there who are sharing it too. (Not people I see, but I may know vaguely though other people etc. )
I may not like the party myself and their policies , but I am surprised at this low level of racism which isn't being removed by Facebook etc
A few of these acquaintances certainly wouldn't like anything like this being said about them too!

itsgettingweird · 26/10/2022 07:56

There's a lot of Braverman negativity this morning.

Having met her a few times over the last 8 years it's great others are seeing what I've always seen.

She needs to go.

I think eventually her carter will be over.

HelensToenail · 26/10/2022 08:12

Yeah Yvette Cooper is on her case - again

It could all unravel very quickly for Sue Ellen and out shiny new PM. It's like deja-vu

PMQs later too?

Saucery · 26/10/2022 08:25

@the80sweregreat I know the sort of meme you mean. I think I culled all the closet racists off my FB in a previous round of “I’m not racist but….” nonsense, but I’ll see who pops up and surprises me this time.
One of them (work colleague ) asked me why I’d deleted her from my friends list so I told her. Politely, so she had to be polite back. Grin. “I don’t want to see that sort of thing on my timeline” has no comeback, really.

L1ttledrummergirl · 26/10/2022 08:47

Anyone fed up with the old lines 'you don't vote for a leader , only your own MP' as one of the reason we can't have a GE?

I've been saying that for months- but as a reason we should gave an election. My MP is not engaging with the constituents, is generally rubbish and needs to be got out.

The tories must be making anyone who voted for Boris outside his constituency feel like idiots. They seem to be going out of their way to alienate themselves from the general public.
