Talking about Badenoch, she has been appointed Minister for Women & Equalities.

Remember she voted against abortion clinic buffer zones and abstained on same-sex marriage in Northern Ireland

How can someone like her be in charge of equalities?

DuncinToffee · 25/10/2022 20:17

Sunak shares her views?

AutumnCrow - less of a headbanger than Braverman and less bullish than Cox. Supported May in trying to get a deal.
That said she voted in favour of restricting legal aid so not entirely my cup of tea.

How can someone like her be in charge of equalities?

She knows what a woman is. And is passionate about single sex toilets. 🙄

But also thinks TAs in school are a waste of time and anyone inclusive of anything is woke.

I'm a fan of single sex spaces. I'm no fan of hers Grin

Blossomtoes · 25/10/2022 20:48

To be totally honest @itsgettingweird, I don’t care. I’ve never been in a public loo without separate cubicles with lockable doors, I couldn’t care less who’s in the next cubicle.

Feels like the right to time to remind people these petitions are still open

call to have a GE within 100 days of new PM

Steve Barclay returns to Health,

This is turning into a Johnson light cabinet.

I wasn't expecting anything else. This is a holding action, not a new dawn.

DuncinToffee · 25/10/2022 21:06

If anyone needs it or knows someone who does

From 26th October until 6th November, anyone needing a hot meal can visit a Morrisons cafe and receive a free jacket potato with Heinz baked beans. You just need to ‘ask for Henry’ when ordering

I care when they put men into women's prisons, rape shelters and open-plan changing rooms. All of which has happened under this government. I don't have any hopes that Labour will be any better on this score; mind you. Stamner is in favour of a new rape CPS strategy but wants self-ID which dismantles safeguarding across the board.

Women, as a sex class, are fucked either way.

Piggywaspushed · 25/10/2022 21:15

Where in the UK has open plan changing rooms?

Saucery · 25/10/2022 21:21

I hope people who need it take up Morrisons’ offer. Not that should have to in this day and age in the UK but we are where we are.

All parties will use gender identity issues to cynically manipulate whichever side they think will get them the most votes. I’ve given up trying to assess whether Labour or Conservative will uphold women’s rights and reality, because neither will unless it suits them.

tobee · 25/10/2022 21:24

Small thing here but I've been involved/following clinically extremely vulnerable people and their fight to get Evusheld the "vaccine" for those unable to make their own antibodies. Approved in March by MHRA. But not to be rolled out by NHS or has been made available privately. Despite so many other countries using it.

Anyway, yet more appeals made to constantly changing health Secretaries. Just a small example of the chaos caused by these governments.

PS

  1. Lib Dem deputy Daisy Cooper has been advocating in the commons
  2. silent vigil parliament sq tomorrow at 12.30pm
  3. possible Astra Zeneca (makers if evusheld) looking to distribute here privately- not ideal
Piggywaspushed · 25/10/2022 21:26

It just seems so ideological. The government also won't allow the vaccine for poultry in East Anglia where the farmers are having to shut all their free range birds away. It's not even logical on cost benefit analysis.

Piggywaspushed · 25/10/2022 21:15

Leisure centres (although often cubicles are available)

The used to have lots of open plan changing rooms in clothes retail stores in high streets very commonly for a short time in the eighties.

tobee · 25/10/2022 21:32

This went of fashion because people felt uncomfortable and vulnerable

Piggywaspushed · 25/10/2022 21:33

Yes, sued to be tobee. Not seen any for years.

And there's sporadic outbreaks of bird flu I believe?

Piggywaspushed · 25/10/2022 21:33

Used!

Just curious as it is so often cited on here and Twitter.

itsgettingweird · 25/10/2022 21:34

Piggywaspushed · 25/10/2022 21:15

Where in the UK has open plan changing rooms?

I think they mean open plan single sex.

So males and females separate. Which is mainly private gyms ime or gyms with separate changing areas in public leisure facilities.

I don't mind changing villages with spectate cubicles or toilets the same.

But I absolutely want any changing rooms in shops etc single sex or proper locked doors rather than curtains and prisons etc to have male and female and then other 3rd spaces for those who think they identify as the opposite sex because they think gender exists and sex can be changed.

I think those who are victims of sexual and domestic abuse are more affected by this as it's more emotional for them as an experience.

Piggywaspushed · 25/10/2022 21:35

Unlike in Iceland ... the swimming pools there are not recommended for anyone who is uncomfortable with nakedness (ie me)

Piggywaspushed · 25/10/2022 21:36

I don't disagree with most of that its.
