Steve Barclay returns to Health,

This is turning into a Johnson light cabinet.

Let's paper over the cracks of the last weeks. No one will notice.

Rees-Mogg dated his handwritten resignation letter "St Crispins Day"
You couldn't make it up.

Oh good grief, referencing the St Crispin’s day speech from Henry V 🤦🏻‍♀️ Such a heroic band of brothers (not).

Gove is back, Levelling Up

Govey, Govey, Govey.

It seems to me that Sunak is assembly a cabinet of everyone he is too scared not to have, rather than on the basis of any talent for running a department.

DuncinToffee · 25/10/2022 18:27

Paul Brand

A few whispers of disquiet about the reshuffle already…

One Conservative source: “Not sure any of this is good politics! Bunch of all the old blokes together, bring in the woman fired last week and keep the girls waiting for the pretty fluffy jobs at the end.”

"It seems to me that Sunak is assembly a cabinet of everyone he is too scared not to have, rather than on the basis of any talent for running a department."

Quite. Lots of deals done rather than selecting the most talented. I think the description of Johnson Cabinet Lite is spot on.

Will admit I'm quite pleased to see Hunt stay & Gove back in. That will last right up until his first interview of course.

No idea about Gillian Keegan.

I don't think this is going to do much for the option polls. It's not just Labour and LibDem etc supporters who think Braverman is evil.

Did KC3 criticise the Rwanda plan?

Also, I thought Indian trade deal was damaged by SB’s immigration policy?

Barclay is my mum's MP. The health provision where she lives is dire. There is one GP surgery and they were awful during covid when my dad was really ill and he nearly died because they refused to give a 93yo with complex health issues including heart failure a face to face appointment for months. DB (also a Barclay constituent) complained to him.as he was getting nowhere trying to get dad an appointment and he couldn't care less.

WAIT, Minister without portfolio is a thing?

twitter.com/10downingstreet/status/1584931875965251585?s=46&t=tTxHN9eqHK3aIUOba7Q-SA

I thought folk (here, Twitter) were taking the piss?

They couldn’t be arsed to make something up?
What will he do all day?
What are his responsibilities?

satire is DEAD.

I can't believe there's now a Minister of Fuck All. All of the privileges, and I assume extra pay, but no responsibilities whatsoever. They're proper taking the piss.

To be fair, it’s not a new thing. It’s usually the Chairman of the party and means they can attend Cabinet.

Me neither but reading some tweets it sounds like she will upsetting the Tories know what a woman is crowd.

And therefore butt heads with Badenoch.

DuncinToffee · 25/10/2022 19:05

Talking about Badenoch, she has been appointed Minister for Women & Equalities.

Remember she voted against abortion clinic buffer zones and abstained on same-sex marriage in Northern Ireland

Sunak fails to read the room at first outing. Letting Braverman back in tells you all you need to know.

Peter Mandelson was a Minister without Portfolio back in the Blair days.

Thatsasmashingblouseyouvegoton · 25/10/2022 19:11

He's fucked it.

GE within months.

As much as I disliked Mandelson, at least he had some skills and talents that were useful to the government. What does Zahawi bring to the table, other than knowledge of how to fiddle expenses to heat his stables?

Yes, he was very talented in the dark arts! I would say he was the Cummings of the day.

I agree Sunak has fucked it. He has a chance to show the country the Tories had learned something from the debacle of the last few weeks. There will be a little bounce in the polls but it won't last long.

AutumnCrow · 25/10/2022 19:21

Yes, let’s hope. I was afraid he was going to reinstate Shapps.

Just for the record, I've been in the same room as Suella Braverman and she is a thundering volcanic halfwit. She shouldn't be left alone near a toaster by herself never mind the home office.

I've been in the same room as her before too.

Can't say he's wrong Grin
