A takeaway once a week?

Does anyone else have on average one takeaway a week?

We have fallen into the routine of this, Sat night (if I'm not at work) Indian takeaway & wine.
For me & DH Food lasts us 2 days £27.

Yes, we do, on a Saturday evening

PatChaunceysFruitCake · 23/10/2022 09:10

Yes, maybe four weeks out of five. Usually an Indian on a Friday. We don't have it if we go out to dinner instead.

Giveronyoursausage · 23/10/2022 09:10

Yes every friday night

pilates · 23/10/2022 09:11

We used to but I am aware of being more careful with my money atm

CornedBeef451 · 23/10/2022 09:12

No, we have one about twice a year.

Luckily DH likes to cook and he's very good at it so a takeaway is a bit of a waste.

Cartor2 · 23/10/2022 09:12

Probably once a month

KoalaPineapple · 23/10/2022 09:13

Yep once a week average, spend around £20 for 2 people usually lasts us 2 meals (tea one night then dinner then next day) so I’m not fussed by the price or anything tbh

Dwayneswain · 23/10/2022 09:14

Every Saturday night, usually spend around £40-£50 for 5 of us (Chinese) and there’s usually leftovers for 2/3 people to have on the Sunday

AgentProvocateur · 23/10/2022 09:14

What’s the point of this post? We don’t know if you’re earning 10k or 100k. If you like it and can afford it, just do it. It doesn’t matter what other people do.

bloodywhitecat · 23/10/2022 09:14

We used to as a couple but now it is just me I can't be bothered to go and collect a takeaway so don't bother any more.

Ringbling85 · 23/10/2022 09:14

Not every week but most weeks, last week we had a Friday night take away. Yesterday we got a pizza, burger and chips take out.

Simonjt · 23/10/2022 09:15

We have one most Fridays, we take it in turns to pick which type of takeaway to have.

ShutYerYapAndGetOnWithIt · 23/10/2022 09:15

We get a takeaway about every 6 weeks. We eat out (pubs, nothing fancy) at least once a week.

Calm down love. I'm only interested in what others do.

Used to but I'm on slimming world now! I don't miss it and it saves money. They are often too oily and not worth the money anyway.

CakeCrumbs44 · 23/10/2022 09:16

Probably once a month.
If we get fish and chips we share fish and get the largest chips. it's enough for one night and a chip butty the next morning - about £15
If we get Indian/Chinese/Thai we spend about £25 on one starter, two mains, rice and naan. It does dinner for two and then lunch for one the next day.

I do find it too expensive and unhealthy to justify once a week for us. We only spend about £70 a week on food for the family, so an extra £25 for one meal is a lot.

Timetochangetheoil · 23/10/2022 09:16

Before we had kids we had at least one a week! Since having our first child 5 years ago it’s dropped to maybe one a month? Often less. We eat way healthier in general since having children! They eat what we eat mainly because I can’t be arsed cooking separate meals.

Lily073 · 23/10/2022 09:17

No

PissedOffNeighbour22 · 23/10/2022 09:17

We used to. Chinese costs about £11 for 2 people (kids are too young to share it) and pizza is about £18.
We've started having them less now as we can't afford it as I'm on maternity leave and my pay will drop to zero this month. Occasionally if my DP is really late home from work and there's nothing quick to cook we'll order even if we've had one recently.

FatOaf · 23/10/2022 09:18

About 3 takeaways every 5 weeks, on average. I live on my own most of the time (except when kids home from university) so I can decide day-by-day what I want to eat. A takeaway just for me costs £8-12.

WeeblesWibbleWobble · 23/10/2022 09:19

Used to but is nearly 40 a time so stopped.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 23/10/2022 09:20

Every Friday night because i have had enough of planning and cooking a meal by then but we have been discussing the need to potentially drop it to every other week. Its definitely a treat for us and something we will need to give up if our bills and food shop increase anymore.

Spend between £20 - £40 between 5 of us (2 adults and young 3 children) depending on what we have. Its usually fish and chips as thats the cheapest and stretches between everyone. 2 portions of chips and 2 large cod feeds us all but occasionally we have chinese.

Ragwort · 23/10/2022 09:22

No .. mainly because where we live (rural) the takeaway restaurants really aren't very good. We do have a nice fish and chip shop and perhaps get a takeaway from there once a month. I am sure if I lived somewhere with a wide range of good takeaways I would be very tempted.

Frazzled2207 · 23/10/2022 09:22

I think it’s fine if you can afford it

whether or not you can is a another matter entirely

Yes agreed. Worth missing a few to actually eat out really.
