A takeaway once a week?

MsMiaWallace · 23/10/2022 09:07

Does anyone else have on average one takeaway a week?

We have fallen into the routine of this, Sat night (if I'm not at work) Indian takeaway & wine.
For me & DH Food lasts us 2 days £27.

Maybe 3-4 times a year. Only ever fish & chips.

Butitsnotfunnyisititsserious · 23/10/2022 09:25

Nope. Maybe once every few months, I can afford to, just find my money is better spent on other things.

GodInventedAmazon · 23/10/2022 09:25

Very occasionally as I learned how to cook in the pandemic. Really like a good fish and chip tea though , can't do that the same

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 23/10/2022 09:25

We only have a takeaway very rarely. Two adults and two teens so it is quite expensive. We do however go out to eat one or twice a month, so divert the takeaway budget to that

And I will happily admit that we eat crappy beige freezer food one night weekly so I still get an evening off cooking.

Roystonv · 23/10/2022 09:26

Very rarely though I would love to and live in the town centre so no delivery needed but although we could afford it I just can't justify the cost and always compare it to how much I could cook for the same amount. Sad git that I am

Decafflatteplease · 23/10/2022 09:31

We used to have one every Saturday night. Spent around £30-35 for 6 of us.

Have cut it right down now to every 6-8 weeks and we actually enjoy it alot more as we look forward to it more. Feel really bad though as we are friends with the owners so would prefer to support them but we can't afford it so regularly.

A580Hojas · 23/10/2022 09:32

We have a takeaway maybe 6 times a year.

I like them but not THAT much. I'd rather spend less on takeaways and more on going out.

CuriousCatfish · 23/10/2022 09:32

We usually have a takeaway once a week or eat out at the local pub.

catfunk · 23/10/2022 09:33

Yes one a weekend usually, unless we eat out! We enjoy it and can afford it, although both take packed lunches and coffee to work.

wlv12 · 23/10/2022 09:34

No, can’t afford weekly takeaways for 2 adults 2 teenagers sadly, it’s a treat maybe once every other month?

echt · 23/10/2022 09:34

Only during lockdown. I like cooking, as did my late DH (who did all of it!) Am far more likely to eat out when meeting DD in town.

AlwaysLatte · 23/10/2022 09:35

We have a takeaway quite rarely (there's an excellent Bangladeshi restaurant nearby) but I do make 'fakeaways' sometimes - doner kebabs, Wagamamas eg.

deliverooyoutoo · 23/10/2022 09:35

No. It's too expensive and nowhere delivers out here so I just cook.

Hoppinggreen · 23/10/2022 09:36

No, we rarely have takeaways
Not for financial reasons but I can make better food myself in a shorter space of time than ordering and getting it delivered etc.
When we do get a takeaway it’s usually disappointing

AlwaysLatte · 23/10/2022 09:36

Ah and pizza. We use the bread maker to make the dough, which works really well.

Babymamamama · 23/10/2022 09:36

No I don’t do this. I’m not on the breadline but eating take away food isn’t my priority. I often find it very salty let alone the fat content. I’ve been working away at losing the two stone I gained during lockdown so having a take away would set me back. Also I do think it’s expensive for what you get oftentimes. I do however sometimes order DD pizzas from the local Italian when she has her pals round though.

YorkieTheRabbit · 23/10/2022 09:37

Hardly ever have a takeaway, the last time was April and that was because we were having some work done in the kitchen.
I prefer to cook but each to their own.

MendaciousMabel · 23/10/2022 09:37

We probably have one or two a month, DP doesn’t like a lot of takeaways and prefers to cook! When it was just me I’d have one at least once a week 😂

fernz · 23/10/2022 09:38

Used to but have cut down recently. I get something nice from the shops instead - the frozen pizzas from Iceland are actually really tasty and with a drink end up costing a few pounds per person compared to spending £££ on a take away. Almost all the take aways in my area now charge for delivery too along with increasing their prices in general so it's impossible to get anything for less than £20.

Violashift · 23/10/2022 09:38

Sometimes twice a week and sometimes even for breakfast too. Blush
Probably have to quit this when the mortgage rises.

sageandbasil · 23/10/2022 09:39

We've fallen into the habit of getting a few takeaways now but they're more like £40 each time because we live in an expensive area where they hike the price up on everything

DarkNecessities · 23/10/2022 09:39

Rarely a takeaway but we eat out at least once a week

blippi123 · 23/10/2022 09:39

We've stopped having takeaways as the novelty wore off and prices went up

Now it will be a treat maybe once every 2-3 months

Bbq1 · 23/10/2022 09:39

Yes, every Monday as that's one of dh's nights off. Takeaways (delivery) range anywhere between £20 - £60 depending on what we have. There's me, dh and 17 year old ds. We don't eat the leftovers the following day.

sageandbasil · 23/10/2022 09:39

@blebbleb do you have the pinch of nom books? I used to make great fakeaways from them!
