Well Sunak obviously but I very much doubt he will accept it.

Wasn't he offered it before Kwarteng but turned it down? Or did I dream that?

I would say Sunak but I think they have him lined up for PM.

TheMousePipes · 14/10/2022 11:54

I’ll have a go if you like. I have got a fucking clue what I’m doing but apparently that’s not an issue these days.

PortalooSunset · 14/10/2022 11:54

Sunak won't take it. He'll be PM before Christmas.

I'm shit with maths but I'm not an empty shell of a human, with no morals so I think either of us are probably qualified

derxa · 14/10/2022 11:56

Oh no I love Kwasi

HappyHamsters · 14/10/2022 11:57

How do you know he will be sacked today

Xiaoxiong · 14/10/2022 11:59

Seems really unfair that he's the only one being sacked when he's just carried out exactly what Truss said she'd do in the leadership election. Should be both of them but I can't stand the idea of another tory leadership election either. God what a total clusterfuck.

I agree. Should be both or none.

I am clueless when it comes to politics so my apologies if this is stupid but can somewhere answer this for me?
Lizz was so honest during this campaign. Unusually honest in fact, for a politician it seems. She told them exactly what she planned, exactly what she was going to do and they all voted for her. Why are they all so angry now? She's literally done exactly what she said she would which was, as I understand, why the public was a bit worried about her.
Why does kwasi have to lose his job for this? I'm genuinely confused.

midsomermurderess · 14/10/2022 12:05

The word seems to be Sajid Javid.

Truss will be giving a press conference at 2pm to announce yet another U-turn on the 'mini' budget. They've said Kwasi won't be there, even though he's just arrived back at Downing street from the states. Apparently it was all decided while he was in the air.

Exactly. It's ridiculous

It’s a mess but it’ll a fucking embarrassment to have another PM so soon. We look ridiculous.

To try to scapegoat and blame him l would imagine

TizzyTruss · 14/10/2022 12:08

It's a clusterfuck who ever takes over (if indeed he's going) I'd like Rachel Reeves 😉

Redrry · 14/10/2022 12:08

Sajid and Rishi please

Bumpsadaisie · 14/10/2022 12:09

Give it to me Liz love. I'll have a try.

FourTeaFallOut · 14/10/2022 12:10

Sunak might be offered and he might take it. The reason why he wasn't interested before was because his fiscal plans were so at odds with Truss there was no space to find common ground but given what has gone, the loss of trust in the current cabinet and a skittish markets, maybe he'll be afforded the opportunity to manouvere the country through in his own way and it might settle the discontent.

Although Sunak didn't want to intervene in the domestic energy bills with the scale which has already been implemented. So, not sure how that would fly.

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 14/10/2022 12:10

GreenLunchBox · 14/10/2022 12:06

Exactly. It's ridiculous

Conservative party members voted for her. Although MPs did get to vote on who would be on the final ballot paper. MPs are worried about losing their seats at the next election.

Spudlet · 14/10/2022 12:10

The Tory MPs didn’t want her though - they would have had Sunak. The wider party though, the grassroots members, they went for Truss. Because they’re wildly unrepresentative of the population as a whole. Now the MPs, whose constituents ARE the population as a whole, are bricking it because they have Mad Liz as their leader and can see their chances of re-election becoming not so much small as microscopic… hence all the shenanigans.

It’s not even been 6 weeks since this woman took power, and for two of those the country was in mourning for the Queen… it’s an impressive feat to be doing this badly, this soon 😳

NightmareSlashDelightful · 14/10/2022 12:12

Rumours seem to be circulating about Jeremy Hunt being offered chancellor.

I mean, I guess you can't keep straight white men out of senior cabinet positions forever.

Lindy2 · 14/10/2022 12:13

I'd have liked to give Truss a better go at it but honestly, she's been utterly rubbish. There's no way back from it now really. The budget was a ridiculous fudge right from the start and confidence is lost.
