Rumours seem to be circulating about Jeremy Hunt being offered chancellor.

I mean, I guess you can't keep straight white men out of senior cabinet positions forever.

Ha! I realise you are being sarcastic but you reminded me of this recent tweet by the 'Rural Conservative Movement'...

"White Englishmen have been used as leaders very successfully over the centuries. Would it be worth the Tories turning in desperation to that now unfashionable pool of talent? Just a suggestion."

KnickerlessParsons · 14/10/2022 12:38

Politics aside, wouldn't it be fantastic to have two Asian heritage people in the governments top two roles?
No other Western, predominately white country has managed that.

Wouldn't it just!

ShineOnYouLikeMorningStar · 14/10/2022 13:02

Miss Rabbit. Loads of work experience, she seems reasonably competent, generally quite pleasant. Good at multitasking. Less ugly than most of the other possible options.

I'm shit with maths but I'm not an empty shell of a human, with no morals so I think either of us are probably qualified

Go for it guys! Can’t do any worse than this lot

I really hope this ‘government’ is inspiring a new generation to go into politics

whatwasIgoingtosay · 14/10/2022 13:02

And... he's gone! Sooner she goes too the better. I have to say, in a horrible voyeuristic kind of way, I'm enjoying watching the Tory party /government unravel 😁

Ashadeofgreen55 · 14/10/2022 13:04

Surely no one credible will want the job?

PeppaPigIsBacon · 14/10/2022 13:05

I hadn’t realised that you didn’t need to be a British citizen to be a member of a political party - wonder how many people voted for the PM who wouldn’t be allowed to vote in a General Election? I mean, it’s almost certainly stupidity on the part of the membership rather than conspiracy, but it made me think.

Ashadeofgreen55 · 14/10/2022 13:05

Maybe Hunt would do it if he can see a way of leaping from Chancellor to PM?

Surely Liz Triss can’t stay in position now?

Same!

Ashadeofgreen55 · 14/10/2022 13:07

Or was this all a complicated plot to get Boris back? 🤪

Viviennemary · 14/10/2022 13:08

Surely time is up for Truss now.

TheLeadbetterLife · 14/10/2022 13:09

Meadowbreeze · 14/10/2022 12:04

I am clueless when it comes to politics so my apologies if this is stupid but can somewhere answer this for me?
Lizz was so honest during this campaign. Unusually honest in fact, for a politician it seems. She told them exactly what she planned, exactly what she was going to do and they all voted for her. Why are they all so angry now? She's literally done exactly what she said she would which was, as I understand, why the public was a bit worried about her.
Why does kwasi have to lose his job for this? I'm genuinely confused.

Yes, Truss said exactly what she was going to do, Sunak said it would be a shitshow. Truss said don't mind him, he's just talking Britain down / in the Coalition of Losers or whatever she's calling it.

They voted for her and got what they voted for and now they don't like it, because it is a shitshow after all.

So, Brexit.

They're not that clever. These are the people who voted for Johnson in the first place.

Isaidnoalready · 14/10/2022 13:12

I hear the Queen's dogs are looking for a position

Can't be worse than what we have got surely

Eyesopenwideawake · 14/10/2022 13:13

Any bets on Truss calling an election at the press conference??

Imnotswallowingthat · 14/10/2022 13:13

Sajid Javid being touted as his replacement.

It’s fascinating - heartbreaking for the poor and vulnerable, but utterly enjoyable in a detached way to watch a government implode.

CormoranStrike · 14/10/2022 13:14

Jeremy Hunt is being strongly tipped, but they are waiting till he’s back in the country to announce.

PurplePositivity · 14/10/2022 13:14

TheMousePipes · 14/10/2022 11:54

I’ll have a go if you like. I have got a fucking clue what I’m doing but apparently that’s not an issue these days.

That's made me laugh, which is scary as they've bollocks everything up and it's really not funny.

MrsSkylerWhite · 14/10/2022 13:15

Rachel Reeves.
This sham have to go. We need a GE.

ShirleywasaLady · 14/10/2022 13:15

Sixsmith · 14/10/2022 12:47

Kwasi should have stayed under the sea with the rest of the Octonauts. A cat has not business being chancellor

😂This post is not getting enough credit!

Hmmph · 14/10/2022 13:15

It would be a truly stupid MP to accept the post of Chancellor with Liz Truss still as PM and the storm in full flow. Surely they can all see the writing is on the wall and why would you want to be tarnished too...

As such, whoever agrees to take this job is going to be worse that Kwasi.

loottie · 14/10/2022 13:16

I'll do it if I can work from home (preferably from my bed).

I don't think I can do a worse job?

MrsSkylerWhite · 14/10/2022 13:16

Times suggesting Jeremy Hunt.

Spudlet · 14/10/2022 13:18

So Kwasi Kwarteng is apparently the second shortest serving Chancellor ever. And the quickest to get the sack, as the guy who holds the record died of a heart attack 30 days in, poor man…
