Original AD here. My uncle died of covid yesterday. It wasn’t a tragedy - it was a blessed relief as he hadn’t known who he was for years. Everyone will make the right noises of course - but I’m not sure any of us will be demonising covid itself.

NannyGythaOgg · 06/02/2023 17:09

@FatSealSmugSoup
Sorry for your loss but so pleased that you can find comfort that he is no longer suffering.

JenniferBooth · 06/02/2023 17:32

Isn't it just!

EmmaEmerald · 08/02/2023 23:20

Thanks for letting us know about this

it's available online under open access, which IME means print runs will be short, so if anyone wants a paper copy, I'd get in quick. I wouldn't be surprised if the online version is removed.

Strange thing yesterday went to chemist for caneston for thrush. Have been trying to manage this alone since covid. They refused me. Said I had to see GP. Sent email to GP surgery explained this. This morning nurse phoned me to come in. Well I was the only person in the waiting room. Lit up screen asked two people to go to room 10. There's noone here bar me. Sat there for 20 minutes the screen didn't light up once for a GP. They're not on this morning I guess. Maybe all 12 of them on a course.

Finally my name popped up. I saw the nurse said how quiet it was. Her response really I thought it was very busy. WTF. I asked about the asthma clinic was it defunct. Nope but it's over the phone now. Really I said, how do you do the peak flow test then. Silence for a moment then I was offered a cancellation asthma clinic wise

That sounds odd. I wonder where the other people were.

EmmaEmerald · 13/02/2023 00:17

just they send out peak flow meters free of charge now.

I just popped here to say - carefully - during the lockdown, a person told me the next step was war and after that, an event like what's happening in the US.

I was politely nodding. In reality, I agreed re war, and things like CDBC were a given at that point which I think we're allowed to say now there's a consultation...but recent events in the US have made me a bit surprised. She was right about that too. It's surprisingly "meh" though.

Letter from my HA about the electric check

"it is advisable to wear a face covering. Where residents are not willing to do this we reserve the right not to enter the property and this will be treated as failure to provide access"

Letter is dated February 2023

I'd drape a black lace Victorian style veil over my face as I answered the door.

I suspect, unless you answer the door coughing (productively) and spluttering and wiping your nose on your sleeve, workers will not give a fuck that you are not wearing a mask.

They are giving their workers an out for clearly ill households who aren't even trying to contain it. (However that doesn't mean a few workers will take advantage and not come in - not because they are worried but because they'd rather be paid without actually doing the job (Like some teachers, health professions and others)

@JenniferBooth , I think you should totally do as she suggests. Also, now I kind of want one. It would give a sort of Morticia Addams vibe.

What on earth...? That is so mad. Some people just cannot let go.

JenniferBooth · 17/02/2023 20:44

@EmmaEmerald Electric checks arent even mandatory in social housing It clearly states this on the Government website. So they are trying to bully their way into my home for something that isnt even a law. They verbally threatened DH with loss of tenancy last year. Today they were stupid enough to put that and the mask thing in writing.

JenniferBooth · 17/02/2023 20:45

Its pure bullying

This company also does electric checks in factories and offices For big businesses and small ones in smaller offices. I wonder if they are told they have to wear masks
