Thanks, I think I understand now.

It sounds like RAAC may be in some social housing which may be declared dangerous. So SH tenants are getting very nervous that it will be used as an excuse to get some of us to move out Yet they were good enough for us to lock down in. Gove is one of those waxing lyrical about this yet he was one of the instigators for the lockdowns HE was the one who went on the news saying we could only go out for one hour a day Basically he is going to find that he has painted himself into a corner. If he doesnt realize that now he soon will.

9hMPs on the Commons Levelling Up Committee are expected to raise concerns with Levelling Up Secretary Michael Gove over fears around the use of reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) in social housing built between the 1950s and 1980s.

With Gove being one of the proponents of the lockdowns surely they now cant try to get social housing tenants to move out due to RAAC IF it is found without admitting they knowingly forced us to lockdown in dangerous buildings!!

I'm glad to hear DD2 is happier. DS is also regaining some lost ground. He now has several solid friendships which is a relief.

Since we moved them away from the crappy school situation they were in during the pandemic - they're fine, DD2 has now just about re-gained the lost ground from the year of the teacher hiding behind a perspex screen, in a mask and visor and denying SEN existed and DD1 is about to head off to secondary (but has already told her new tutor his hairline is receding... year of DD1 and it'll probably go grey as well!)

Report
ISaySteadyOn · 25/08/2023 11:34

Don't blame you. How are you doing these days? How are your DDs?

I have ended up having to home educate DD1 for secondary which is fine as she is happy and DH was home educated and is fine.

Nope I'm done with the nudging. Whether it be covid, avian flu, ulez, 20 mph in Wales. They can all feck off

We're getting 20mph imposed in the entire town we live in. Conveniently we live right on the outskirts just within the 20mph bit, so everyone is just going to route themselves around the edge to avoid it all.

I'm sick of being nudged, behaviourally science and whatever else. Just fucking tell us what rules you're going to whack on us next - stop with the stupid psychological warfare of trying to make us beg for it to happen. The psychological manipulation is what fucks my mental health in the long run more and it's ripped society apart.

I try not to think about it. If things happen again, I will protest strongly but crossing my fingers that it will not.

I really dont think that series is going to age well.

I prefer the sound of this book.

Anyone listen to a Podcast, can’t remember which one. That was proper serious about it escaping from a lab.
I don’t have a tin hat promise.
But it’s too soon for tv series, too much trauma and incompetence.
I’m not the same person, no more be kind. Because if you step out of line. They are vicious.

There was a six part series I recorded. About Boris and co during covid. I eventually deleted it unwatched. With this new drama I shan't record. I really don't want to revisit that time in any way.

Our train service is seasonal. As in Easter to September for the tourists. After that it's pared back. They've just reduced it again this year despite the ferries that work between here and Ireland. It's easier to fly and more reliable. They've announced the cancellation of free school buses because they're unaffordable now.

With the strikes reductions in the train service, the bus services pared back, we're stuck with cars here . We don't have any big cities, you can cycle to work in clement weather though

I’m not a climate change denier, but it’s always stick and never carrot.
Where I live buses go to once an hour after 6pm !!!!! And that’s if they turn up

I agree with this. I'm driving my son 40 mins up the road because of train strikes but in any case I'd have to pick him up again as there wouldn't be a late bus or train to get him home again.
I hate driving in our nearest city and would happily use public transport but the options aren't there.
It feels sinister that there's no infrastructure being created to mitigate the effects. I tried right through covid to apply Hanlon's Razor to some of the worst decisions but it gets exhausting.

If I started going up a hill in my car at 20mph I would be in first gear in seconds. My car doesn’t had any get up and go. She’s cheap though and fine on the flat, lol.
I couldn’t live anywhere without a bus service, because I do actually like going by bus. Love a look out of windows.

Our village at the top of a couple of steep hills the bus service stopped 30 years ago.

Come September our speed limit will be 20 mph unless we're on a dual carriageway. So I think Wales is doing an interesting experiment. Time will tell

I really don’t like Farage but having access to banking is essential for modern living so should be available for everyone. Bank accounts of gender critical people have also been closed.
I agree with Voltaire on free speech.
I also support ULEZ and a bit disappointed to see the number of anti-lockdown people (like me) who are also climate change deniers (not me). But you can’t agree with everyone on everything.

Has anyone had any wonky fruit yet. My tomatoes are smaller this year as are the plums. Think we're going to be eating a lot of fried green tomatoes.
