I say the damage is mostly mental but actually I gained a LOT of weight and started smoking again. I think it's part of a "enjoy it while you can" thing. And I hear Whitty's next thing is to get the country smoke free.

Yes Saw that in my Twitter feed He has started on the smokers now

Hi all. I can't believe how many threads we are in now, and parts of the country are still so dementor-y

My brothers nursing home were told to withdraw his medication and put him on palliative care by a GP that hasn't seen him, spoken to him or assessed him. Just seen a vulnerable (clinically- he's generally fine) man with a DNR.

This is the same GP who diagnosed him over the phone with a chest infection (because he was breathless) the day before he ended up being hospitalised and diagnosed with severe heart failure.

Well they’ll have to prise the smokes out of my cold, dead hands.

oh.

😂

over-eating and smoking are both forms of self-harm and I hold my hands up to both. Better than crack and glue.

@LivinLaVidaLoki your poor brother. 😔

Hooverphobe · 05/11/2022 07:22

But yes, I started smoking again during lockdown 1. I think I needed something that was my own - and that was that 5 minutes in the garden.

"over-eating and smoking are both forms of self-harm"

I just think people do them because they enjoy them, and I realised how important it was to enjoy stuff. Maybe it depends how much you do.

In Christmastime 2020, a 70 yo man who lived in Staffordshire (Tier 3 restrictions) sold mince pies in a Cloudside Rd premises that he believed were in Cheshire (in Tier 2).
Cloudside Rd is just in Staffordshire (map below).
Anyway, he's just been given 6 months in prison.

This was in the Times. What a fucking waste of money. Most of the comments are calling for a Covid amnesty.

Afternoon all, I'm still here, still reading, still despairing about some people's attitude.
I've noticed more mask wearing at work ( retail) but there's a lot of under- nose wearing which is pointless.
On the bright side, the tortoise is thriving, I'll post a picture later.

Hi all! Took me ages to find you again! Glad to see your all still here! Saw some names I recognised on other threads and had to have search for some positive vibes as my SAD is crap atm! You all were a massive support during the earlier days! Although I don't post much as can't deal with backlash! Your words and positivity really got me through! Xx

Hello. I have stumbled across this thread
What is AD

The ADs (Anti-Dementors) were a long runing series of threads through 2020/21 where we were critical of the narrative of the time of covid meaures and raised the wider (negative) consequences of many of them, and joy-sucking, unrealistic attitudes such as not going to be able to holiday abroad for years, or that going for a second walk of the day was spread the virus and going to result in the unnecessary killing of grannies. They were always interspersed with light relief deviations of conversation and some (much lacking at the time) humour.

There's another thing to worry about now StrepA. The fear is building. Our surgery yesterday said they were swamped with people wanting tests despite being short staffed due to covid. Facebook our health board posting out advice where to go for a test. It's a tsunami of fear 🙈
