Wotcha. I have no memes, but I fail to see why I'm supposed to be devastated by a privileged 96 yo woman dying at home with her family around her, after receiving the best possible medical care.

And I don't ever want to see another fecking Paddington poem ever again.

Im also sick of seeing friends fb pictures going to Sandringham or whatever to lay flowers and “pay respect”.

I have Monday off now but trying to decide what to do with an unexpected day.

Here here, we are not bothered either. My 9 year old DS is gutted, they were meant to be on a school trip on Monday. I think we are going on a bike ride.

But no I'm not sad that a 96 Yr old lady who I have never met has died at a grand old age irs not a tragedy in my eyes.

I'm not a royalist. But what a totally weird thread. You can join the hundreds of other threads about other things or start your own, but to start a thread to say that you actively don't care about someone's death is just bizarre. Who cares if you're bothered or not?

She was a 96 year old stranger who died - I am no more upset than 96 year old Trevor from Tunbridge Wells dies from old age. Sad for family and friends but... I can't do another week of this nonsense.....

I really can't stand the ownership some people take of grieving in this sort of situation, there's an air of superiority about it. I can't quite explain but it's competitive in a way, look how sombre and respectful I am etc. It's like mass think, like everyone has been brainwashed! I feel the same about religion mind you, I couldn't be further from a royalist or religious believer as it is all wrapped up together. I'm a bit bored of not listening to my favourite news and discussion radio station in the morning and while I cook dinner. I feel like it's actually a bad distraction from the realities of the world at the moment, there's so much more important to focus on. It feels tone deaf to me to be making such a fuss. It's like the peasants have been thrown a crust and so many people are lapping it up

I feel a bit sorry for her...not having peace even after death. Having to travel here and there everywhere especially at a time when her body just wants to rest.

Not a royalist in particular here, but do you really not understand the absolutely massive cultural impact the queen had/that whether you agree with it or not she was a huge icon worldwide? Of course it’s a really really big deal that she died and it’s absolutely nothing like a random 96 year old dying.
