IF YOU ARE A ROYALIST, DO NOT READ.

I’m getting fed up with all the posts saying we need to show respect blah blah blah.

Well, I don’t care. I won’t be watching the funeral either.

I’ve seen so many memes shared that have made me laugh, but I won’t share them here cos I reckon the thread will get deleted.

So if you aren’t a royalist, come and talk about anything and everything. Share a funny meme. Or something sweet

I’ll start with the sweetest thing I’ve read in whole

Thing is,I lost my grandad years ago at a young age-he brought me up

I lost a dear friend to bastard lung cancer-she worked all her life but when she needed them, she couldn’t claim benefits-she lived for another 18 months but due to fuck ups,she only got what she was entitled to,for the last 6 months

i saw her on the Friday and she was dead by the following Thursday

my lovely fil lost his life to the same cancer-I watched the man who was the next best thing to a dad to me,die, slowly and painfully-his death was a sort of relief but not-we can’t speak his name without tears

they’ve all left holes that can never be filled-I miss all 3 every single day-they shaped me into who I am today

this woman, who I’ve never met, never had to worry about where her next meal was coming from, had riches I can’t dream of and married her bloody cousin-and went on to have inbred children (which is what that family is built on)

im not bothered-I didn’t know her, never met her and she didn’t have any influence on me or my day to day life-not years ago,not now and not in the future

get rid of the lot of them and have done with it

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 20/09/2022 08:06

Thought I might be able to watch some news today now that GriefFest is over, but Sky are leading with the news that 250,000 people came to see the Queen lying in state.

Never mind that there's more than 66million people who didn't bother...

HandbagsnGladrags · 20/09/2022 08:20

Arghhh, enough already. How long can they actually talk about this for?!

I am so glad this lunacy is (hopefully) coming to an end tomorrow.
I think you’re being overly optimistic. There’ll be a loooong post-mortem- who did what, who reacted most gracious/distressed, how George and Charlotte did their Gan-Gan proud, how Meghan and Hazza were snubbed and how he and Wills still want to poke each other’s eyes out with ceremonial swords. Which world leaders said what/looked best/looked worst/looked bored/fell asleep (prob Biden). I swear this whole things has legs and will run and bloody run. How Charles showed he will make the bestest king and how the royalty is in wonderful hands with Wills, Catherine and George next in line etc etc.

Grin

I swear I've read those exact comments under the news stories on FB this morning!

Oh, and one where Charlotte is supposedly crying being comforted by ghost queen - a poster commented that Charlotte wasn't crying at all, the sun was in her eyes....that poster was getting ripped apart as I left 😂

Ooh there was a whole article on the DM site yesterday about a cloud seen over Portugal shaped like the Queen's profile.

I think that one was my fave.

Myotherdogsaballboy · 20/09/2022 09:59

I'm surprised there's no pics of her face on a slice of toast yet. Obviously the next step would have been to spread marmalade on it and make a shrine so people could queue up to pay homage to it.

kingtamponthefurred · 20/09/2022 11:45

I was a bit disappointed when she failed to rise again on the third day.

HairyMothballs · 20/09/2022 12:02

I haven't watched the tv at all for since the queen died. I've got no interest in the royal family whatsoever, no desire to be part of the mass hysteria that has been happening since she died. I have just spoken to an elderly lady who said she feels "exhausted" today, having watched the whole funeral palaver on tv yesterday, from 9am to 5pm. She said the only time she moved from her chair was to go to the toilet. Absolute lunacy, in my opinion. 100,000 police officers (I bet more), the SAS, snipers on rooftops, plus all the guardsmen, bodyguards, etc., were deployed yesterday. I cannot take it all in.

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 20/09/2022 12:05

I like the RF thread in the S&B section, because it's usually only focused on clothes, but this week it's not for me. Everyone is exhausted, emotionally flat after yesterday, can't believe they'll never see her again...

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 20/09/2022 12:26

Guys, new favourite just in. A horse, which was able to understand the concept of a funeral cortege, and that there was a body hidden inside a box wrapped in a flag, actually curtsied. CURTSIED.

A thread for those who are not royalist
Sparklingbrook · 20/09/2022 12:31

The curtseying horse, well whatever next. Don't they do that leg thing because they are bored?

YourLipsMyLipsApocalypse · 20/09/2022 12:36

Well it's a horse in ten days of enforced mourning, it's probably bored as all fuck like the rest of us.

nildesparandum · 20/09/2022 21:40

I have just come home from hospital after being admitted as an emergency on Friday evening with a life threatening condition. The next day when starting to feel better, a nurse informed me that the television was free to watch all day Monday so everyone can see the Queen's funeral. I thought how nice, why can't it be free everyday like it once was for everyone in hospital?.
I declined to watch, I had just escaped being put into a coffin myself so certainly won't watch the Queen being paraded around in one and everyone bowing and scraping for a 96 year old woman whose family have been anticipating her death for years.
One of the oddest things that I saw on the internet was a woman being interviewed as she left Westminster Hall. She told the interviewer that the moment she walked past the Queen's coffin meant more to her than when she was giving birth to her two children. So seeing a box with a dead stranger inside meant more than the moment she first saw her children!.I feel sorry for her offspring, imagine how they must feel if they hear that.
Also the woman who brought her two children with her ,along with her late mother's ashes. The ashes were going to be held up as she passed the coffin so her mother could meet the Queen, something she had always longed for when she was alive.

ALittleBitSkeksis · 20/09/2022 21:49

Oh wow @nildesparandum I hope you're on the road to recovery Flowers

That woman is probably the subject of an AIBU thread right now; AIBU to feel upset that my mum loves the Queen more than her own daughter...

nildesparandum · 20/09/2022 22:37

@ALittleBitSkeksis
Thankyou, I am feeling loads better now, have been very lucky it was caught in time.

x2boys · 21/09/2022 06:55

I couldn't watch the funeral even if I had wanted too as my Internet was down for two days ,it came back on yesterday mid morning ,every cloud etc .....

Myotherdogsaballboy · 21/09/2022 10:48

was a bit disappointed when she failed to rise again on the third day.

That's what I was saying to BF on Monday - that she will rise up out of that coffin at some point in the service and float up to the heavens to rule the heavenly host.

Pemba · 21/09/2022 10:59

But seriously I think mainstream society in the UK is post-Christian and has been for a few decades now. But some more naive gullible people have actually deflected any worshipping tendencies onto the Royals, particularly the late Queen. So maybe 100, 200 years ago those kinds of people wouldn't have actually cared about the royals that much
I know the Georges I-IV weren't particularly popular, neither was Victoria until late in her reign.
Does anyone else agree (or am I stating the obvious 😁)?

Did you see that man that was arrested as he was creating a ruckus screeching that the queen wasn’t really dead?

OP posts:
Yutes · 26/09/2022 23:55

I’m still seeing ridiculous sentiments of people who are still heartbroken over the queen dying. Still crying about thinking about her. I saw someone write “grief is the price we pay for love” with a photo of QEII…..yes it is. But my heart is not heavy with grief for the queen.

Yes I read that he didn't believe it and wanted to check .

And yes there's still people whanging on about still finding it hard to get their head around her not being here and how its like losing their grandma 🙄
