IF YOU ARE A ROYALIST, DO NOT READ.

I’m getting fed up with all the posts saying we need to show respect blah blah blah.

Well, I don’t care. I won’t be watching the funeral either.

I’ve seen so many memes shared that have made me laugh, but I won’t share them here cos I reckon the thread will get deleted.

So if you aren’t a royalist, come and talk about anything and everything. Share a funny meme. Or something sweet

I’ll start with the sweetest thing I’ve read in whole

I'm just bored now. Drank loads of tea. Speculated if it's the real crown. Ordered the kids downstairs for homework.
I think a half day would have been a much better compromise. Shops etc opening at 1 or something.

I certainly don’t think schools should be forcing children to sing the national anthem and stand in silence for two minutes. My sons school did this, he is asd and has sensory processing issues so he could not stand still, he got hauled out by the HT and told off for being disrespectful in front of lots of his peers. He was very 😩 distressed. I thought schools had a secular approach these days and not making kids sing god save the queen.

That's disgusting behaviour from the school, picking on a child with ASD because he was fidgeting a bit.

Travelledtheworld · 19/09/2022 11:11

Going for a ride on my horse. Its what the Queen would have done.....

That's bloody shocking @vickibee
I wouldn't sing that song no way would I expect my child to have to sing it.
Dd goes to a Catholic school. She comes home saying Hail Mary's 🤣🤣🤣

WanderingFruitWonderer · 19/09/2022 11:17

I'm neither royalist or republican. Kind of indifferent. But I'm half watching the funeral, because it's history etc. But, as a pacifist I'm really struggling with how military it all is. I know the Queen was the head of the forces, so it's obvious; but I guess that's the main reason I can't be a royalist. If it wasn't so tied up with militarism, and if they had less money and fewer castles etc; and it was just a bit of theatre, I wouldn't have a problem with it. The alternative may be just as bad though. I don't know...

WanderingFruitWonderer · 19/09/2022 11:24

I wonder how the royal family ever started? Who came up with the idea of it?! It's odd when you stop and think about it...

Fucking hell, I've got an ND DC too and I'd have a rocket up the head's arse for that.

vickibee · 19/09/2022 11:35

thanks all, I did think abt contacting school, it’s a secondary and he is 15. We have lots of issues like this where school don’t understand him but I need to pick my battles
incidentally he observed the respectful clapping at the home football match impeccably.
I am painting our bathroom and need more paint but all the shops are shut. 🤨

Soubriquet · 19/09/2022 12:32

My dc are being forced to watch the funeral by dh.

I disagreed with it but he wouldn’t back down. It isn’t a hill I’m willing to die on so the kids are watching it.

Im watching supernatural

Well you know the circumstances better than me, but deliberate humiliation of a child for displaying ND behaviours, in service of some warped idea of respect seems like a legitimate hill to die on from where I'm standing.

@Soubriquet clearly you care enough to put out a post though, one to tell everyone you don’t care. Look you can think whatever you like and that’s the point of freedom of speech, you can say how you feel. Those who oppose that are equally entitled to voice that opinion. The nastiness and condescending undertones between those who have different opinions is what’s wrong. Phrases like ‘blah, blah, blah’ or referencing people as ‘batshit’ (I have seen plenty over the last few days) just shows the lack of ability to at least respect that not everyone feels the same way. It’s shows how nasty the human race can be and how unaccepting they can come acRoss, it’s all a bit sad.

vickibee · 19/09/2022 13:14

It is nothing personal against the queen, it is the role that should be made redundant, it is not relevant for a modern society, that you are in a role by chance because you are born to the right parents. Surely no one can argue with meritocracy? I agree that the queen did an amazing job and always served with integrity but the question is should the role exist at all?

I really hope that's the end of it tomorrow. I'm so sick of the deference and grief weirdos all over here and Facebook etc. now it's how amazing the royal kids are. I mean honestly if mine had been raised to believe they were superior to everyone else I'm sure they could sit still to keep that impression up.

It won't be the end. They'll be writing numerous articles commenting on Kate gurning and Meghan smirking at the funeral and where you can buy their fancy black hats from.
Then it will be months of blabbering on about Coronation drivel.

Soubriquet · 19/09/2022 14:42

No I anticipate the same. And then just as it starts to die down, voila it’s the one year anniversary and the rigamarole starts up again.

It will show her life, the funeral, the queue and what’s changed since then.

Of course that will be after all the palaver of the coronation.

Waterford Whispers live feed has made my day. Not laughed so much in a long time. Thank you to the poster who mentioned it :)

LEnferCestLesAutres · 19/09/2022 15:41

Yes thank you for the Waterford Whispers link - v funny!

vickibee · 19/09/2022 16:16

Just wondering what would have happened if she had died in the middle of covid? Would the funeral have been delayed until lockdown was finished.?
