Has anyone happened to just see Theresa May's tribute to the Queen in the commons? My goodness she was heartwarming, kind and very funny with real comic timing! I had no idea she was so witty! It never came across during her PMship.

Anyway, anyone feeling sad or a bit empty today - it's worth a watch.

I liked Boris Johnson’s too

justusandmoo · 09/09/2022 13:04

Yes! It was lovely a very unexpected! ❤️

snowballer · 09/09/2022 13:04

Johnson's was really very good. And I can't bear him.

Starmer's also good, and Harriet Harman. Truss so unbelievably wooden.

ArtixLynx · 09/09/2022 13:05

it made me smile.

Grandma60 · 09/09/2022 13:05

I too found her speech warm and moving, a very sincere tribute

Hersetta427 · 09/09/2022 13:06

Loved the story about the cheese. She has natural comic timing.

Cadburycuppa · 09/09/2022 13:07

I liked Harriet Harmons

MomwasCasual · 09/09/2022 13:07

I like Theresa, mainly because of how she openly loathes Johnson but also because she took the piss out of herself by coming out dancing at the conference that time

EdieLedwell · 09/09/2022 13:07

Absolutely lovely. The cheese story was hilarious 😂

LizzieSiddal · 09/09/2022 13:08

I heard it and thought she was charming and wonderful.

Turned Johnson off, he makes me sick.

Vapeyvapevape · 09/09/2022 13:08

It was a lovely tribute

Snozzlemaid · 09/09/2022 13:08

I agree. Just the right amount of humour.
Was nice to see them being pleasant to each other for a change as well.

83DanishMum · 09/09/2022 13:09

Yes Starmer's was excellent I thought. Very statesmanlike, very very well written and on the mark, and actually had me in tears, which surprised me.

Truss was very wooden and repeated lines from yesterday.

Theresa May has warmed on me today, she came across as a lovely lady.

Yes Theresa May, Boris and Kier’s were good. Boris does have a very good way with words, just not suited to Prime Minister!

Liz Truss didn’t feel genuine, mainly because I couldn’t help remember her speech to the Lib Dem conference and I wonder how she really felt.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 09/09/2022 13:09

I agree - I turned on just in time for her speech, and it made me smile - especially the anecdote about the cheese. I thought it was well judged and witty, and I’m sure the Queen would have loved it.

I was watching on the BBC, and there was a glitch in the broadcast - or in the matrix - unless I was the only one who saw it…

CoastalWave · 09/09/2022 13:10

I always thought Teresa May was given a hard time as PM - she's a lot more able and capable than we know.

Lovely speech.

Toomanybooks22 · 09/09/2022 13:10

Agree with previous posters it was lovely to see the MPs being polite to each other across political lines and I thought the speeches were very good, particularly those of Johnson and May.

minou123 · 09/09/2022 13:11

I saw that @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius .

It repeated her line about the Queen's radiant smile about 5 times. 😁
At first, I thought it was me who was glitching

I did like the little dig to the MPs that her meetings with the Queen was the only briefing where information wasn't leaked.

Vapeyvapevape · 09/09/2022 13:12

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius i had the glitch too .

TeenDivided · 09/09/2022 13:12

I saw the glitch too, and yes Theresa May's speech was v.good.

Liz Truss was probably just very very worried about getting it wrong. Hopefully she'll grow into her role, not a great way to have to start.

JenniferBarkley · 09/09/2022 13:12

I watched with my jaw on the floor - where was that warmth and personality when she was PM?!

Drivebye · 09/09/2022 13:12

Yes it was lovely. I turned BJ off, I wish just can't bear to hear him. He bare faced lied to the Queen, lied to the country. I wish the media would stop giving him air time. Thank goodness he isn't PM at this sad and historic moment.

grumpytoddler1 · 09/09/2022 13:13

Do you know where I can find the video, OP?

OrangePumpkinLobelia · 09/09/2022 13:13

I turned over because of thre glitch and then turned back to hear all of the Commons laughing! What was the cheese joke? (Please!)

MissMarplesNiece · 09/09/2022 13:14

It made me think that Teresa May is most likely not as staid & boring as she came across when she was PM. I think she's probably very good company.
