Has anyone happened to just see Theresa May's tribute to the Queen in the commons? My goodness she was heartwarming, kind and very funny with real comic timing! I had no idea she was so witty! It never came across during her PMship.

Anyway, anyone feeling sad or a bit empty today - it's worth a watch.

And even Boris, with his crazy hair and tie that needed straightening (!) gave a really warm and sincere speech too.

Johnson's was really very good. And I can't bear him.

Starmer's also good, and Harriet Harman. Truss so unbelievably wooden.

Yes, I agree, Truss was very wooden. She has no charm and, it appears, no empathy.

I very much enjoyed Theresa’s May speech and also Boris’. I’m no Tory but thought that was likely the most sincere speech he’s made in the commons.

Those 2 and others have saved the day as Truss is a poor public speaker in my view and obviously doesn’t have anecdotes with not being in post long enough. I’ll judge her on policy decisions and action more than how good she is delivering a speech, but part of being a leader is inspiring. I feel bad for her on some level but several of her speeches I’ve heard so far are like listening to children at school reading out, with very little variation in emphasis or intonation. She warmed up a bit in PMQs and is better in that scenario.
