Is your school open tomorrow?

How many people have already heard that their school is shut tomorrow? It never occurred to me that this might be a thing, but apparently several schools in our area have already emailed parents. Surely this is an all or none scenario, not up to each head teacher's discretion? But also, surely they'd have to tell us by 8pm if school wasn't open in the morning?

(I'm a teacher and a parent, and I've not heard from either school)

AFAIK, we are open as normal. And we are round the corner from Buckingham Palace and have a very royalist head.

I don't really care, but if we are going to close, I want to know before I get up at 5:45am to get to work.

Hadn't even occurred to me, ds2 has his induction day at 6th form.

Why would schools shut? Are they really shutting? How disruptive for everyone especially given that schools have already shut so much recently.

There are other ways to show respect and I would absolutely be supportive of a whole school silence or assembly or something. It's momentous, I appreciate that. But our children need to go to school.

They might well be closed for the funeral and formal stuff - I highly doubt that they'll be shut for the endless days of TV filling and compilation films that are to come in the interim.

We've had a message from the head via teams, we're open as normal and all planned activities and events will happen as normal unless the trust says different.
We will however be shut for the funeral.

Our LA has directed schools to be open as normal.Possible closure on funeral day if not at the weekend.

I'd understand them closing for the day of the funeral, but surely no other day.

No reason to close tomorrow. Probably be closed on the day of the funeral even though that's not actually a bank holiday.

I'm a teacher. Why would closing tomorrow even be a thing? I imagine we will close on the day of the funeral if it is a weekday but not expecting any announcements from my school tonight.

I work for a large MAT. All of our schools are open as normal tomorrow.

My children assure me we are in mourning and schools will be closed until the funeral 😂wishful, although I hope they have the funeral off.
