Is your school open tomorrow?

How many people have already heard that their school is shut tomorrow? It never occurred to me that this might be a thing, but apparently several schools in our area have already emailed parents. Surely this is an all or none scenario, not up to each head teacher's discretion? But also, surely they'd have to tell us by 8pm if school wasn't open in the morning?

(I'm a teacher and a parent, and I've not heard from either school)

All schools are open around here, I've got no idea why they'd want to close tbh.

I think it stems from news outlets over the years outlining operation London Bridge that mentioned schools closing (albeit only some versions seemingly) the day after and the day of the funeral. Thankfully it doesn't seem that in it's recent iteration its the case and they'll rightly remain open. As with anything like this there's always random rumours.

I feel like this thread is goady tbh.

It never even crossed my mind that schools would close unless a bank holiday/day of mourning is declared, which feels unlikely what with the recession and all.

3 independents schools open tomorrow (we’ll just checked my email)

however the local country club Foxhills is closed - takes the piss ….

No email from my DC's school so I assume that means it's open.

Fair enough. The Mirror, Sky and others I've seen seem to think Monday. 10 days would be the Sunday so who knows

Why are people stating the date of the funeral with certainty? Let’s just wait to be told

scouts decided not to have a meeting this evening ‘in light of the sad news’ but not heard anything from schools. DS asked if he could have the day off to mourn, I told him no such luck mate.

'Sad and difficult time?' Good Lord. I'm very sorry, on the level that someone's beloved mother and Granny has died, as I would be for anyone else in the same position. But the monarchy is not an institution everyone respects, and as a professed democratic society that is the way it should be. I raise my child to believe all people are equal.

No wonder some of these kids arrive at university to find trigger warnings against authors as tame as Jane Austen.

Open. But we have been told that the school may be asked to close if the funeral falls on a weekday.

We haven't sent out a message but we are open as normal.
We have posted a condolences messages.

I doubt any 'normal' school is going to be closed tomorrow to be honest.

DofE guidence is t open as normal - my school is open and haven’t heard from DDs school but I assume it’s open.
