Contrasted with Truss, Starmer will appear statesmanlike, charismatic, charming and totally on top of his brief (to be fair, he usually is on top of his brief).

You don't know who your hero is?

Sadly I don't have any heroes. Maybe Eilish McColgan at the moment😂

Oh, I assumed from your consistent defence of Big Dogs whoopsies that maybe the Dog was one of your heros.
I guess there could be other reasons for the defence, I just can't quite think of them at the moment.

I listen to PMQ's each week (coincides with a long drive). I haven't seen Liz Truss in action in Parliament so I am reserving judgement.

What would be nice is if Minister's start turning up to Select Committees. It is disgraceful that so many have opted out of a key part of their role. What happened to Parliamentary sovereignty?

cakeorwine · 07/08/2022 13:06

I record PMQs and occasionally read the Hansard copy.

I also read some of the debates in Hansard

Does anyone want to "Give Way"? Any points of order..

You would have hoped Lindsey Hoyle would have words to say about that.

I thought partygate was a load of old nonsense. That doesn't equate to me lionising dear old BJ.

I have and it's not impressive. Her saying barking dogs would deter drones over prisons was a corker.

She is not good in Committees either.

The Prime Minister, Chancellor and others breaking the law on numerous occasions is a load of old nonsense.
I'm quite flexible, but can't manage that contortion.

I'm sure that view would go down well for those who could only have hardly anyone at a loved ones funeral whilst the parties were going on.

Those that make the rules should not be breaking them in any way, shape or form.
How many FPN's was it again? 200?

There is a charge sheet as long as your arm against BJ. He's rightly out of office. But attending 'gatherings'. Load of nonsense.

He's gone. You've got your scalp. If Starmer had had his way lockdowns would have been longer and harsher.

SueSaid · 07/08/2022 13:27

'How do you know Blakeford says resign, if you haven't seen him at PMQs?'

I haven't seen Drakeford (the Welsh first minister), sadly I've seen Blackford blustering on many a time.

I've no idea why the pp thought Truss may be phased by any ramblings from anyone though, she seems quite steely.

ClaudineClare · 07/08/2022 13:29

derxa · 07/08/2022 12:25

Drakeford is a joke

The majority of voters in Wales don't think so.

ClaudineClare · 07/08/2022 13:32

If Starmer is unable to shred Trussed Up at PMQs, then he needs to go.

😲😮. Blimey, I see something quite different.
Unsure of her facts, out of her depth and knowing it

"I'll have to get back to you on that one" and "I don't know the exact figures" seem to be her favourite phrases

Glad you've find someone to get behind Janiie there's precious little to go on at the bottom of that barrel !

The PM wasn't attending funerals either. You really must try and compare like for like. Funeral attendance was sadly limited to reduce the risk of further spread as there was a pandemic and the nhs was struggling with surges. It wasn't just to be mean.

He was at work as were many, many other key workers all eating and having beverages.

Anyway, he's gone <for now Grin>. Let's hope the msm don't decide to launch another smear campaign to bring down a democratically elected leader. Paul Brand will be gossiping with his 'sources' as we speak

Sturgeon?

Roussette · 07/08/2022 13:38

Don't agree Janiie but can't go down the route yet again as to why BJ was allowed to do what others weren't.
Just can't
I agree he wasn't attending funerals, he was at gatherings instead. Far worse

I don't want 'shredding'. I want policies to help people in need. Is that too much to ask?

No, why you saying that,? I was talking about Truss as you know.
Plenty of footage put there with those fave phrases of hers

He was at work. I know it, you know it. He wasn't gallivanting about nightclubs or visiting 'loved ones' when no one else could.

You should be more worried how the Cummings/The Mirror etc al pulled the whole thing off tbh.

We don't need a smear campaign. His attitude, misleading, defence of Chris Pincher, trying to change the rules for the other MP who resigned, his constant misremembering...

Oh - and you forget that we don't elect a PM. We elect an MP. The Leader of the party becomes PM. So it was the Tory MPs who decided that he should not be a leader.

That happens in any place where people choose who will lead them. Unless you have a problem with MPs replacing a leader?

I agree. It was bloody sinister and caused even more pain to bereaved people. I wonder how it will be seen 20 years from now.
