"Oh to be so young and full of such enthusiasm."

That is great, enthusiasm & engagement is exactly what we need. (I'm at the other end of the spectrum and feeling very weary of it all.)

Me too. I'm torn between having a teenager in the house is keeping me young and having a teenager in the house is making me realise I'm old and tired. I wouldn't change it though.

I am worried that she is gong to be shredded so much each week at PMQs that I will feel sorry for her.

Starmer and Drakeford must be delighted.

Things must be bad if you're having sympathetic thoughts anywhere in the general direction of a Tory Grin

My GS is 17 and lives with me. He is already on the electoral roll and can't wait for a chance to vote. If they sneak in a quick GE before he hits 18 he will be beside himself.

My ds is 18 in 3 weeks.

He says they better not have a GE so he can purposely not vote Tory before then!

Notonthestairs · 07/08/2022 12:09

Johnson supporters are not taking the Privileges Committee investigation well. Dorries and Goldsmith and Mail Chief Editor Dacre all very unhappy at a committee with a Conservative majority checking whether the PM lied -

"Just a Cabinet Minister calling a cross party group of MPs a witch hunt and egregious abuse of power.

Quite obviously such a tweet demonstrates her woefully unfit for public office."

I think he's pretty safe, my GS has a bit longer to go so fingers crossed.

I was like that with Theresa May. Didn't want her as PM, thought she was useless but ended up feeling sorry for her when those big boys started bullying her. I hope she's enjoyed the past few weeks.

Jesus, Nadine is an embarrassment.

Jesus, Nadine is an embarrassment.

I am worried there is something quite seriously wrong with her.

Drakeford is a joke

@derxa You are quite correct, but the amazing thing is that your hero make Drakeford look like a wise and sensible stateman.

Blossomtoes · 07/08/2022 12:30

I’m seriously beginning to wonder if Dorries is a Labour plant. Now Johnson is on his way out she’s becoming one of Labour’s strongest electoral assets.

I thought Truss and Rishi were campaigning to fulfil that role?
Perhaps no one has told Dorries.

Blossomtoes · 07/08/2022 12:32

I hope the Tories put her and Rees Mogg front and centre of their election campaign 😂

Piggywaspushed · 07/08/2022 12:34

She is like one of those nasty girls at school who says whatever she likes, because the headteacher likes her.

Who is my hero? They're all empty vessels. Politics isn't a profession any sensible person would enter at the moment. Twitter hate... death threats etc etc. It's just not worth it

the80sweregreat · 07/08/2022 12:36

Why someone like Rishi Sunak who could earn double doing his old job as a city banker is in this race now is beyond me.
Some people just like the power it brings I suppose

The rumour is she's going to the HoL. I'll have respect for Liz Truss if she doesn't give Nadine a job.

'I am worried that she is gong to be shredded so much each week at PMQs that I will feel sorry for her. Starmer and Drakeford must be delighted.'

I've never seen Drakeford at PMQs.

Starmer. 'Shredded' by Keir Starmer Grin. He wibbles, whines and makes a tit of himself, that is not shredding.

I'm sure Truss can hold her own with forensic Keith and 'resiiiiiiiiiiiign pm! RESIIIIIIIIIGN!!' Blackford.

the80sweregreat · 07/08/2022 12:47

Just my opinion , but Liz Truss will be fine up against Kier Starmer.
He is the wrong leader for the Labour Party.
If it was Andy burn ham or Angela raynor I might agree she would struggle a bit more though.
(Not that I like LT and already dreading her being in power )
Is what it is though , things are bleak and only going to get worse . I think this is a bigger priority for whoever wins. Depends how they can sort out the looming crisis.

How many people actually watch PMQs? Only saddos like me I suspect.

I agree with all of the above. What was it Clinton said? It's the economy, stupid

You don't know who your hero is?

cakeorwine · 07/08/2022 12:56

"It's the economy, stupid"

"A week is a long time in politics"

"Events, dear boy, events"

So many quotes. And yes - the economy is key. Which is why it's very worrying when both front runners are saying that each others policies won't help and will just cause more issues.

@JaniieJones How do you know Blakeford says resign, if you haven't seen him at PMQs?

Anyway, while you are here, can you explain to us why it was in your view acceptable for a 56 year old to have a birthday party whilst denying that opportunity to millions of children?
