He actually did amazingly and surprised himself!

Huge personal bests in heats and then again finals!

1 gold, 2 silvers and a 9th!

Notonthestairs · 31/07/2022 13:12

That is brilliant Itsgettingweird

Roussette · 31/07/2022 13:27

Well done to your son itsgettingweird. Fantastic achievement Smile

As for the two 'contenders' my god, its just throwing something... anything... out there to appeal to the 200,000 who will vote.
Like... hang on we might have Party members with teens... let's do this Oxbridge thing! (The actual Universities will hate them for this nonsense)
and
Let's move from demonising the NHS to supporting them... haven't tried that in a while.

As for Dorries, I would give anything for her to have no job whoever gets in. She needs to f**k off to the back benches PDQ
That retweet of her was appalling.

Apparently she's at BJ's party in the Cotswolds. I've gone a bit viral on Twitter when someone said 'let Boris get married in peace, he's wonderful leave him alone'.
I said... he's been married a year and this is just another freebie party given by a Tory donor in exchange for favours.

Was that the Richard Holden tweet Roussette? , the replies were great. Makes you wonder if they read the replies or just post and run.

Roussette · 31/07/2022 13:51

No, it was someone who was whinging about Steve Bray who was in the vicinity of the Cotswold with a banner. (Perfectly legit, despite the Govt wanting to stop protests!)

It's beyond me why some of the public still exhibit slavish devotion to this awful man... he obviously doesn't care a damn about anyone in the country except himself and what he can wheedle out of donors whether that's marquees, wallpaper or free food, like the £27,000 worth of Daylesord gourmet food during lockdowns.

Itsgettingweird* How fantastic. It must have been so exciting for your DS and you.

I would like to hear Sushi and Tosh explain their policies in detail. How exactly would leaving tax rates where they are shrink the economy? How exactly would lowering tax rates push up inflation? How exactly are they going to prevent stagflation? How are they going to improve productivity? How are they going to improve the nation's health? How are they proposing to provide secure and affordable energy? How exactly, other than tinkering with their own household recycling and not wasting food are they going to reduce carbon emissions and prepare for more extreme weather situations? What exactly is their plan for social care? How are they going to ensure that everyone can afford decent housing?

I don't give a flying fig about a tenner for missed medical appointments tbh or oxbridge admissions while the habitable bits of our planet are being destroyed, while a significant chunk of the British population is being pushed into absolute poverty, while workers rights are being eroded, while the government is becoming more and more authoritarian and corrupt and while our media and infrastructure is increasingly owned by hostile interests.

"I think it would be better if the deputy had to complete the term. Obviously I’m not some Raab fan, and I’m not sure we’d be any better off if that happened but it would seem fairer to me. Too much control in the hands of far too few people as it stands."

What else is a Deputy for? It's almost like it's an unnecessary position!

I think you can be certain that any position Raab holds is unnecessary.

in any other context he’d be seen as a cheeky fucker. I can only presume he knows where some skeletons are buried because he’s got fuck all else. The only things he can give away are other peoples.

I don't want an immediate general election myself. A year or so to reinforce how useless the new government will be, instead of people believing promises which won't be kept, means more chance of no Tory majority.

I'm just so concerned about the amount of damage the Tories can do in their allotted time. They'll be making things worse and worse for a vast amount of the population. If a different party or group of parties get in power they'll have such a mountain to climb to just get to a reasonable level and the press etc will persuade the electorate that that government haven't managed to perform miracles trying to clean out the Augean stables left by this lot of cunts.

Cornettoninja · 01/08/2022 13:06

I just had a snort at James O’Brian when he pointed out BJ’s conspicuous absence from the commonwealth games and woman's euro final. He’s scared of the boos ruining his fragile realityGrin

Have to say, it hadn’t occurred to me until then.

Blossomtoes · 01/08/2022 14:17

I was appalled to hear he’s attending Trimble’s funeral today. I wonder if the family had any say in that?

I can imagine Johnson wanting to go. Someone advising him not to. And him being surprised. Seems to be a recurring pattern for him. Everyone else being churlish

Blossomtoes · 01/08/2022 15:26

Apparently he thinks his enforced resignation was the biggest stitch up since the Bayeux tapestry. 😂

Ah you see I would have thought it was inappropriate for him not to attend. It was an acknowledgment of the importance of Trimble's contribution. It wouldn't have been appropriate to send a minister/junior minister. Regardless of my view of Johnson's character & politics he was there as the Government's most senior representative.

I'd like to think that the funeral might remind Johnson of the vast amount of work that went towards the GFA, that it is still supported and how crucial it is that Westminster respects it.

Blossomtoes · 01/08/2022 15:29

It’s too late for him to be reminded of that @Notonthestairs.

Yes, but I think he'll continue to have considerable influence. In any event I don't suppose it will have chastened him.

Blossomtoes · 01/08/2022 15:40

I agree. However, his influence will hopefully come to an abrupt halt at the next election.

Yes but all fine when he resigned as foreign secretary?

I see he's off on holiday on Wednesday to undisclosed destination. When he's leaving his post in a few weeks. Perhaps he's just a normal employee with annual leave to use up?

DuncinToffee · 01/08/2022 18:36

He has been a no show at both the Commonwealth Games and the Euros.

Guess women's football is too woke Wink

Nah, I’m going with JOB’s assessment - he doesn’t want to get booed on mass. He’s a coward (not exactly breaking news but sometimes there’s only one word that fits Grin)

DuncinToffee · 01/08/2022 19:02

Oops, I missed your JOB post.

Booing and hangover are the most obvious reasons ofcourse. But we can't have the ladies showing too much leg....
