Jeez. In the first 30 minutes of tonight’s Tory leadership debate Rishi Sunak & Liz Truss managed to completely eviscerate the whole Tory Government

Watch in disbelief

Schapps is not doing any work, refusing to meet with the unions because they are very militant, extreme left dinosaurs.....

the80sweregreat · 27/07/2022 09:30

Grant Schapps was talking on lbc this morning. He always sounds so bored with it all and just recycles the lines that all train drivers are millionaires ( apparently) whilst ignoring those on much lower wages and what the strike is actually about.
Mick Lynch put Nick Ferrari in his place , about the only person I've heard speak who doesn't waffle and can put his point across well. Even if Grant referred to him as a Union ' dinosaur '
I can't see any of this ending soon.

More rail strikes announced for August

Cornettoninja · 27/07/2022 09:40

I really like Mick Lynch. Not necessarily his politics (though I support strikes and the right to invoke them) but his general character and approach.

I’d be happy to see more politicians under any flag from his mould. I really hate the trained politician stereotype (side eyes Truss) they all seem to strive to be with a few notable exceptions. It’s like toddlers and tiaras where they all train to be one particular stereotype.

the80sweregreat · 27/07/2022 09:46

Well, I'm not surprised about more rail strikes next month.
The government have the line ' we gave them money over lockdown. '
Lots of companies received money over lockdown. The companies still made a huge profit and not passing it on the workers.
It's stalemate as it stands.

Loving this quote from Lizzie Dearden's Twitter on Truss's crime plans:

One senior police source described the policy to me as "incoherent shit"

Does anyone know what Sunak did?

I have no idea if it's true but I've seen lots of comments on social media that he completely ignored it and used the time to try and sell himself to the studio audience directly.

"A former Brexit Party MEP has been recruited to co-ordinate Liz Truss’s grassroots campaign, which tells you everything you need to know about the current membership of the Conservative Party"

Thread goes on to suggest Aaron Banks recruited 40,000 new party members.

I’m convinced that some of the worst is going on right now as BJ ties up loose ends and settles debts.

He shouldn’t be in post.

To say nothing of some frantic shredding of documents and destruction of computer hard drives.

Blossomtoes · 27/07/2022 13:58

From The Telegraph 😱

Boris Johnson is being backed by senior Tories to be the next secretary general of Nato when the high-profile role next becomes free.

The Prime Minister is being touted as a candidate to fill the key defence post with the incumbent Jens Stoltenberg widely expected to stand down in September next year.

Mr Johnson is the latest British politician to be tipped for the role after Ben Wallace, the Defence Secretary, and Theresa May and David Cameron, both former prime ministers.

The timing of the role would allow Mr Johnson some time to recharge his batteries after he stands down as Prime Minister on September 6.

That's about right for every one of her policies.

the80sweregreat · 27/07/2022 14:08

Blossomtoes , maybe this is why he was so keen on visiting Ukraine all the time? ..
There was a well spoken man on lbc today with James o Brien and he said that other countries might be a bit suspicious of Boris Johnson because of this meet up with Lebedev
and his links to Russia. How would NATO view this I wonder ?

Blossomtoes · 27/07/2022 14:11

I reckon NATO would laugh hysterically 80s!

It's not going to happen and just succeeds in making the UK look like utter fools. How absolutely brain dead do you have to be to think NATO members would agree to being led by a morally bankrupt, sexually incontenent liar, who has admitted to doing cocaine and leaves NATO summits to party with KGB agents?

God help us all if that happens. What qualities does he have to bring to the table? He can't claim to be the only one who supported Ukraine, he totally fucked up as Foreign Secretary, and no-one could believe a word he says anyway.

guinnessguzzler · 27/07/2022 14:29

@Fladdermus

😂Tbh, I struggle to think of any role he would actually be suitable for.

Kwasi Kwarteng walks out mid-interview after being asked about Johnson-Lebedev meeting (ITV)

Blossomtoes · 27/07/2022 15:35

That’s interesting. So, even the ministers who didn’t resign have had enough of lying for Johnson.

L1ttledrummergirl · 27/07/2022 15:41

Tetchy! If all is above board why not answer questions on it?

The torys are looking worse than ridiculous at the moment, clowns led by a clown while waiting for a different client who's busy telling us all they are doing clowning wrong!
