The outside temp is set to remain around 25 overnight.

bedrooms feel like ovens. Besides multiple fans and cool sheets/towels as covers, how are you keeping cool in the bedrooms tonight?!

Strategic window opening to get a good cross-breeze.

millytint44 · 18/07/2022 20:50

long cool shower before bed. Have kept curtains and window closed all day. Hope for the best. That's about it really.

Orangesare · 18/07/2022 20:53

We did the keep the curtains closed all day and has fans running. It was still too hot so we are on the living room floor! Which is bearable with fans running

Lulu1919 · 18/07/2022 20:56

Curtains( black out lined ) shut all day ,just opened the little window for an hour .
King size bed two myself .
Cotton loose vest n knickers
Single sheet to cover me .....

SausagePourHomme · 18/07/2022 20:59

drape a cool damp cloth over your chest. should cool you down enough to fall asleep

boymama82 · 18/07/2022 20:59

I've just lay on my bed with a water soaked muslin on my head! It's unbearable and our 1 yr olds room is showing 33 on the monitor so I'm stressing about him! 😫😢

Fatballs · 18/07/2022 21:00

25 is fine for us. We aren’t doing anything.

Windows shut, duvet on.

TwoMonthsOff · 18/07/2022 21:03

I’ve got this but I do keep it In the freezer in the day so it’s pretty solid until it thaws out, i put a thin hand towel on it then move it to different parts of the bed - it makes the pillows so cold it’s lovely

bbn81 · 18/07/2022 21:04

I have ended up outside on the camping mat, lovely right now! Well apart from the neighbours young kids who are still in the pool at 9pm🙄

Luredbyapomegranate · 18/07/2022 21:05

Fan, also might try hanging a wet towel in front of the fan which supposedly helps

SisterGabriel · 18/07/2022 21:06

I’m not cooling them, I’m sleeping downstairs.

YomAsalYomBasal · 18/07/2022 21:06

Air con, bought on a whim a couple of years ago while bored in lockdown. One of my best ever purchases.

cushioncovers · 18/07/2022 21:07

Cool shower. Windows open. Fan on. Thin sheet instead of duvet. Hoping to finally drop off to sleep sometime around 3am.

User48751490 · 18/07/2022 21:08

Making it a shag free zone, that's how I will be making it cool in the bedroom tonight.

SummerSazz · 18/07/2022 21:08

Mine is currently 19 degrees which is lovely!

NCHammer2022 · 18/07/2022 21:08

I’m going to sleep on an air bed in the living room as that’s the coolest room in the house. I also have a chillmax pillow in the fridge, and a fan blowing across a big bowl of ice water.

DD’s room is really warm but it didn’t stop her going to sleep, thank god.

timtam23 · 18/07/2022 21:10

Sleep under a damp towel.
I was given this tip when I lived in Australia and was trying to sleep in daytime summer heat in between night shifts. It works brilliantly well

Svara · 18/07/2022 21:12

Just opened all the windows as far as they go and back door. Will stay open until I go to bed at 11. Minimum temp is 24 here. Will have a one minute shower before bed.

Babdoc · 18/07/2022 21:12

Cosy duvet and t shirt. Scotland…Grin

TokyoSushi · 18/07/2022 21:13

33.6 in our bedroom in Cheshire at the moment, windows wide open and a fan, it ain't gonna be fun though!

Going to try the windows & blinds shut method tomorrow.

HorribleHerstory · 18/07/2022 21:17

Fully in the red zone here and I’m doing - nothing.

can’t sleep with the window open due to city noise.
can’t sleep without clothes on.
can’t sleep without blankets.
don’t own a fan.
kids have been given strict instructions NOT to come in at all hours and complain about it being hot or to say they cannot sleep as there is F all I can do about it. They can open their windows if they want, or get a cold flannel, or whatever but I cannot turn down the sun and they look at me as if I can.

FayeGovan · 18/07/2022 21:19

Im in Scotland and absolutely melting. Ive no idea how you lot in the red zone in England are coping. You have my sympathies 😱

actiongirl1978 · 18/07/2022 21:20

Keeping the windows shut as they have been since 7am.

Much cooler in the house than out of it.

Will still sleep under duvet. But expect to get a bit sweaty later as its going to be stuffy.

Will open the windows for an hour at 5am before it starts to warm up again.

User639921 · 18/07/2022 21:20

Just looked and it's 29, fortunately I don't mind a hot bedroom too much, electric blanket only went off a week ago, I opened windows for air but it looks like still 30 outside so I will probably put the fan on, fortunately DH isn't here as he is off camping up north or he would be very hot and sweaty and probably keep me awake more than the heat

Pompom2367 · 18/07/2022 21:21

Currently got a fan on and put an ice pack on my head it's meant to cool in a bit here
