How are cooling your bedrooms tonight?!

The outside temp is set to remain around 25 overnight.

bedrooms feel like ovens. Besides multiple fans and cool sheets/towels as covers, how are you keeping cool in the bedrooms tonight?!

Frozen bottles of water in front of fans.

Kids prefer sleeping on the floor in this heat.

Damp muslins draped on torsos

Drinks with ice in.

Cool shower before bed.

Hope they pass out with exhaustion 🤦‍♀️

Nat6999 · 18/07/2022 21:22

My bedroom is cooler than the rest of my home, I have one of those fans you fill with water & it's been on now since Saturday, I also use Magicool spray to keep me cool.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 18/07/2022 21:23

With the air con on in a cool 19 degrees. Happy days 🙈. Best £300 I ever spent. I'm not rich. But I just couldn't take it any more! Bought in 2018 and it is now in it's 5th summer. I'm in love!

Cosy duvet and t shirt. Scotland…Grin

It was 30 where i am today it felt like actual hell it hasn't really cooled down much !

Back to the point I've not thought about cooling my bedroom because I thought it would cool down by now 😭

Louiselady500 · 18/07/2022 21:25

Still 30 degrees here and completely still. Cooler downstairs but like a sauna upstairs. I’ve been fine all day but think I might find sleeping more difficult. Everyone sleeping under wet towels tonight!

Talia99 · 18/07/2022 21:27

I’m in a hotel with air conditioning. I had/have two business meetings today and tomorrow both an hour and a half from where I live (in opposite directions) but only two hours apart so I found a cheapish hotel with air con half way between them and I’m lying in bed with the temp cranked down. I can’t claim the hotel on expenses because it’s too close to home (and I would normally go home in between) but to me it’s worth the money to stay cool tonight. I’m not looking forward to tomorrow night when I will be home, though.

Same here! He’s already been up once for a 30 minute scream fest… god help us mama xxx

I've just lay on my bed with a water soaked muslin on my head! It's unbearable and our 1 yr olds room is showing 33 on the monitor so I'm stressing about him! 😫😢

Wipe his hands and feet with a cool flannel, it seems to help a little x

minou123 · 18/07/2022 21:33

For those who have a fan, put a bowl of ice in front of it. Works a treat.

Also put something cold; ice, can, cold towel, or run under cold water, your pressure points. Like your wrist or neck.

User952539 · 18/07/2022 21:36

I’ve had the windows shut and thermal lined curtains all closed all day and the temperature has been fine indoors. I went round half an hour ago and opened all windows now that the temperature has decreased outside. We will sleep with all windows open and we are lucky to have a balcony so if it was horrendous inside we could sleep outside on the sun loungers. It should be fine though now the windows are open

Wineat5isfine · 18/07/2022 21:37

It was 38 degrees here at 4pm. We had a powercut for most of the afternoon and evening…so we’ve been in the pool alot.

Upstairs is currently on 🔥. Downstairs is not much better….

🥵

You realise it’s the UV Index you need to look at 🤦‍♀️ which will be at zero through the night?

Do you honestly think if you go outside at 1am tonight it’s going to be boiling hot outside?

Muffster · 18/07/2022 21:41

Hot tip from a Brit in a hot country: fill your hot water bottle with ice cubes. Use it to cool sections of the bed.

Littleraindrop15 · 18/07/2022 21:42

spraying water on my roof to cool it down

poppym12 · 18/07/2022 21:43

Curtains and windows closed all day. Air con unit in one bedroom but with the doors open it cools the opposite room too. I've also got a fan next to the bed and my trusty chillmax pillow I use for migraines is nearby.

I'm not even going to venture into the living room as it was hovering around 30 earlier and felt stuffy. I'm right on the coast (large west facing balcony doors) so hopefully there will be a bit of breeze from the sea too now the air is cooling.

Muffster · 18/07/2022 21:46

When the power goes off here (Caribbean) we take a plant mister bottle to bed and sleep
under a thin sheet or duvet cover, and mist the sheet/our limbs and faces. Also keep a Muslim cloth in a bowl of water, wring out and drape on forehead.

This is the first time I have ever envied the Scots for their weather. My friend lives neat Inverness. I am currently dying in Essex. To wind me up, she keeps sending me photos of herself in a jumper drinking a cup of tea.

Muffster · 18/07/2022 21:47

Concrete, artificial grass all retain head like a beeyatch overnight. Cities are hot after the sun goes down

Backhometothenorth · 18/07/2022 21:47

We're sleeping in the basement. Lovely and cool

Muffster · 18/07/2022 21:47

Heat. Not head.

Muffster · 18/07/2022 21:48

Muslin. Not Muslim. This stupid phone

Bakedpotatoesfortea · 18/07/2022 21:50

Kept the blackout curtains shut all day. Haven't put the hot water on so the tank isn't heating the upstairs like it usually does. It's actually not too hot at all and I'm amazed. I saw a Tiktok video recommending to keep windows closed and make the rooms as dark as possible. And it's actually worked. I'm shocked

I’m boiling in Edinburgh, my weather app says 25 just now

PringlePoppin · 18/07/2022 21:56

Checked into the local premier inn with air con for the night. I can't take the heat.

allboysherebutme · 18/07/2022 21:58

@YomAsalYomBasal
What air conditioning unit did you buy please. I was thinking of getting one, would prefer a recommendation. X
