How are cooling your bedrooms tonight?!

The outside temp is set to remain around 25 overnight.

bedrooms feel like ovens. Besides multiple fans and cool sheets/towels as covers, how are you keeping cool in the bedrooms tonight?!

We got aircon fitted in our bedroom and the kids bedroom windows were covered up with big sheets of cardboard early yesterday (they can sleep in our room if theirs get too warm).

DockOTheBay · 18/07/2022 22:00

Curtains closed all day.
Windows open now it's cooler, quite a pleasant temperature in the bedrooms now IMO.
But it's "only" been 34 degrees here, so not the hottest area.

Don't put fans on until you're actually in there, they don't cool the room just move air around.

gamerchick · 18/07/2022 22:01

Hot water bottle that's been in the freezer cooling the bed down and sports ice packs under the pillow for the pillow turning. Should be alright.

IrisVersicolor · 18/07/2022 22:01

Windows open, Dynamint roll on on arms and and legs - goes cold on your skin, hot water bottle full of ice, fan. Sleep with a sheet only.

I’m used to Italian summers so this is fine for me.

Mamapep · 18/07/2022 22:01

Sleeping downstairs where it’s much cooler.

33.6 in our bedroom in Cheshire at the moment, windows wide open and a fan, it ain't gonna be fun though!

Going to try the windows & blinds shut method tomorrow.

It's really helped keep cool here today.

You realise it’s the UV Index you need to look at 🤦‍♀️ which will be at zero through the night?

Do you honestly think if you go outside at 1am tonight it’s going to be boiling hot outside?

UV index being zero means you won't burn. Doesn't mean it's not uncomfortably warm to sleep in that temperature. Even in Sydney, 25 is high as a minimum (summer days aren't as long so the temperature has more time to drop).

MrsGarethSouthgate · 18/07/2022 22:03

OMG!!!! You just reminded me that I bought two of these in the middle of June when it was hot! By the time they arrived the sun had disappeared so I put them, unopened, into a cupboard and had completely forgotten about them!

Just dug them out and popped them in the fridge, thanks very much ❄️😊

MrsGarethSouthgate · 18/07/2022 22:05

That was supposed to be a reply to @TwoMonthsOff 😁

MidnightMeltdown · 18/07/2022 22:09

Have kicked DP out into spare room and I'm going to bed with Ben and Jerry

What you actually talking about 🤣🤣

Bemyclementine · 18/07/2022 22:24

I'm laying o top of my bed, fan on. Windows abd curtains closed all day. Still too hot. Ran my vest under the cold tap and put it back on bit of an initial shock but lovely now.

@YomAsalYomBasal
What air conditioning unit did you buy please. I was thinking of getting one, would prefer a recommendation. X

Black and decker. Hard recommend

We have our room sitting at 19 thanks to the lovely air con unit we bought last year when we had a newborn. We took the heat out his room before he went to bed then moved it to our room. Will pop it in the hall for overnight to hopefully remove some of the stuffiness that will build up.

gogohmm · 18/07/2022 22:30

I'm lying with nothing on, it's ok

popapoppadum · 18/07/2022 22:31

We're all camping out downstairs in the lounge as it's the coolest room. The temperature upstairs is so much hotter!

FarmGirl78 · 18/07/2022 22:34

My house is always lovely and cool. Its 23° now which is fine. I'm off to bed in half an hour so I've just been upstairs to open the attic hatch. Should make upstairs slightly better.

yeah me too, it’s bliss and a warm shower so the bedroom feels cools

uncomfortablydumb53 · 18/07/2022 22:37

I've taken my duvet out of the cover and am using it as a sheet
Dog cooling mat inside my pillowcase( Dog still has his!)
Windows closed, blinds fully shut

Spectre8 · 18/07/2022 22:37

Sleeping outside inthe garden tonight

emmaluggs · 18/07/2022 22:38

I bought an aircon unit about 3 years ago when it was forecast 35 last and I had a 3 day old. So currently in my bedroom with my OH, my 5 year old and 3 old 🤣.

Just windows open and a fan on full. I’m wearing a nightie because I need something covering me, but I’m on top of the duvet. DH is in another room with his own fan!

TheOrigRights · 18/07/2022 22:41

I haven't opened the windows yet. Closed them at 8.30am and it's been cool enough. It's very very still which doesn't help. I will open them shortly and create a through breeze (hopefully) from front to back, but will close MH bedroom door when I sleep.
