Interesting thread. My pick would be Tom Tugendhat because of his integrity and lack of involvement with the sleaze of the Johnson administration, which will go down in history as a failure. Sunak, Javid etc are tainted.

Patel (has she declared?) would be popular with a certain Cons voter I think, and would take votes from Farage’s old UKIP squad. Interesting that a pp said she’s unpopular in parliament though.

I agree with the pp who implied that Labour needs to get its act together. What would KS actually do if a Gen Election were called and he ended up getting the keys to Number Ten? What does he stand for?

Cost of Living, Ukraine, NI, NHS waiting lists are all pressing and important issues. And covid may be making headlines again in the autumn. We need strong leadership.

FPTP system isn’t fit for purpose, what we desperately need is Proportional Representation unfortunately I can’t ever see that happening.

Well I voted for PR in the referendum we had in probably 2013. It was meshed in with some council elections I think but there was a fair amount of noise about it and those who bothered to vote voted by a majority for the status quo.

Re Mrs Rishi, IMO the whole non-dom business should be scrapped anyway. Either you’re resident or you’re not. It’s an anachronism - I believe dating back a long time to when already rich people had plantations in the Caribbean. i dare say someone will correct me if I’m wrong on this.

The Alternative Vote system wasn't PR. Even if it had been, there should have been much more information made available so that an informed vote could have been made.

The status quo appealed at the time as we didn't know enough about the other system I heard nothing about it tbh
