Another vote for Larry the cat

motogirl · 07/07/2022 11:07

None of them! Jeremy Hunt I suppose at a punch on condition there's a general election next May

Mischance · 07/07/2022 11:12

Rory Stewart!

Indeed! But he is no longer an MP and lives abroad. He would get my vote any day.

Someone who won’t fuck up the Northern Ireland situation and who will actually look at putting the relationship with the EU on a sensible footing.

This. Ben Wallace might fit the bill? Or Tom Tugendhat as a pp said.

However, given all of them had to swear allegiance to Boris and Brexit to be able to stand in the 2019 election I am not sure any of them are worth having.

Suella. She is a woman. She likes justice. *

  • yes, I’ve lost my mind.

Is Jeremy Hunt the one who didn't make sure that the stock of reserve PPE was enough and well-in-date when he was Minister for Health? Is Jeremy Hunt the one who has been ever-so-available for interview for many months - obliging sweetie?

Penguinwaddles · 07/07/2022 11:15

Come back Rory!

Shan't. So there. 😠

🤣🤣🤣

upinaballoon · 07/07/2022 11:17

David Davies ??

Interestquestion · 07/07/2022 11:17

William Hague. I know he can’t because he’s in the Lords but I wish he could be. I thought he was likeable, charismatic, considered and honest. He went to a comprehensive and Oxford which I think is a good combination. He’s not “sexy” but built good diplomatic relationships.

but we’ll probably get Rishi.

Can a peer still be the Prime Minister? William Hague.

Yes - though the last time this happened was 1895 with Lord Salisbury.

darlingdodo · 07/07/2022 11:21

It's telling that it's easier to be definite about who we don't want! There are so few suitable, viable candidates.

How about a list of those we definitely don't want then we can have a look at the few remaining.

Definitely not
Gove
Patel
Raab
Dorries
Shapps
Rees Mogg

PineappleInPasta · 07/07/2022 11:22

Matt hancock. For the memes.

AthenaPopodopolous · 07/07/2022 11:23

Ben Wallace as he is the defence secretary and an MOD captain. I think he would be best with the war and potential threat of Russia’s nuclear capabilities.

ifonly4 · 07/07/2022 11:27

Larry the Cat. He'll understand the need to ensure cat food prices and fuel bills are kept down for my two Overloads.

1dayatatime · 07/07/2022 11:30

Ideally Yvette Cooper but if it has to be a conservative then either
Tom Tugendhat as he offers stability, integrity and vision or failing that Sajid Javid who has stability and integrity but lacks vision.

Definitely not
Sunak - was fined, his wife's dodgy tax arrangement, no integrity and he helped to create the current economic disaster with his pandemic cash splurge. Jake Bly resigned after Javid did so he could have a go at being PM.
Liz Truss - she has neither integrity, stability or any capability- she is just dangerous.
Gove - do you even need a reason?

coldandverytired · 07/07/2022 11:32

as a caretaker: Theresa May would be hilarious, it'd make BloJo explode and she'd clear all the crap out of the cabinet (I'm looking at you Nads)

Permanent: Larry or Rory Stuart

This would be brilliant

LondonWolf · 07/07/2022 13:39

Javid. Because he knows what a woman is and already started to apply the brakes to the Gender Juggernaut.

PiffleWiffleWoozle · 07/07/2022 13:40

Tom Tugendhat, for all the reasons stated above.

midsomermurderess · 07/07/2022 13:45

I wouldn’t mind Tom Tudendhat. I know he’s somewhat untested, but I think he’s very able, an honourable man and pretty progressive as the Conservatives go. It would be a fresh start, he’s not tainted by this sorry crew.

HelenHywater · 07/07/2022 13:50

Rees Mogg or Gove. They'd struggle to win an election with either of those two.

Someone on twitter said it's like choosing which porterloo to use on the last day at Glastonbury.

It is pretty rude to demand answers and justification of those answers from other people, without even having the manners to give your opinion and your reasons, @bossyrossy !
