Someone on twitter said it's like choosing which porterloo to use on the last day at Glastonbury.

🤣🤣🤣

That just about sums it up.

Who will replace Starmer is the more important question in my book. Labour simply have to find someone who can win and despite how bad its looking for the Tories, I'm not sure Statmer will. There's nothing memorable about him which makes people think they don't know anything about him or his policies - because most of the electorate don't know anything about the people they vote for, but they recognise the personality iyswim.

As for the Tories, it needs to be someone we've never heard of. All the current crop have been happy to support a man they knew was a liar and a cheat, who they knew was incompetent because he could get them elected. Therefore they've told the world that they support that behaviour and would be happy to employ it themselves as a means to an end.

I’m not a journalist.

Are you a HIGNFY researcher? Or, perhaps, an interior designer wanting a heads-up on who the next No 10 occupant will be, so you can get some plans ready ahead of the game?

AntlerRose · 07/07/2022 17:11

Jeremy Hunt - he has been out of the cabinet so is clear of the current mess.
He is more traditional consevative for the grass roots.
He was reasonable at the select committee thing holding jis own mess as health Secretary to account.
He has ministerial experience
He was ok as foreign secretary and is more statesman like than others.

His remain stance will make him more credible as we negotiate with europe.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 07/07/2022 17:15

Perhaps they could a week each for every conservative MP, in random order. Constantly packing up to move into and back out of Number 10 will occupy most of the week, thus limiting the amount of harm they can do.

Teresa May, she was honest and sensible, brought in rules about coercive control

Michael Gove. Can't stand him but I imagine it would cause Boris Johnson to explode with outrage!

This although I would like him to be no confidences within days as well it’s weasel versus weasel

Suella. She is a woman. She likes justice. *

  • yes, I’ve lost my mind.

Smells doesn't like justice.

She's been arse whipped by the bar for for posts about legal things in support of the Tory's. She neither is impartial or even knows the law.

ladygindiva · 07/07/2022 17:23

Rory Stewart. Becausr he appears to have a conscience. Failing that, Colin Farrell. Because I like looking at him.

Probs Carrie looking to level up?

For all those suggesting Braverman and they don't know much about her.

DO NOT go there. She's been my MP for years and is as self serving as the current bunch.

She does NOTHING to help those locally who actually need it.

I had to go elsewhere to ask other councillors to try and arrange an independent hearing to get the law adhered to for something I was fighting. (I won)

Our AG answer when I kept emailing quoting the law, quoting what was happening and asking for X to get it adhered to was - she just kept sending me the policy I was quoting from.

If she can't help constituents where the laws concerned she not going to be able or willing to help the country.

JazzyBBG · 07/07/2022 17:28

I'd like Sajid.

I don't think it will happen though although the city like him too. I imagine he probably hasn't got as many of daddy's friends in the Lords as others do to get the party votes.

Never heard of Tom T until today!

I think Teresa May was far better than anyone gave her credit for, but I doubt there's enough tea in China to get her to take the job.

I heard her interviewed this morning and she was all errs and ummms. That won't get her elected.

But much more than that she genuinely seemed to think it was absolutely fine that she'd supported Johnson despite knowing he was a liar, a cheat, incompetent because he could make sure the party stayed in power. She seemed to think it was a perfectly reasonable explanation.

This she is a disgrace to the law profession as for Penny Mourdant a Brexiteer & very stupid.

Peter Mannion. Or Nicola Murray. But probably Peter Mannion. First order of business - "I'm bored of this, I'm going for a Twix" 😂

Pourmeanotherwine · 07/07/2022 17:38

Caroline Lucas

Takeittotheboss · 07/07/2022 17:46

If it has to be a Conservative then Rory Stewart with Tom T as deupty. Both appear likeable, diligent, sensible and seemingly non self-serving. Unlike the rest of the squalid bunch. Tainted the lot of them by their own foulness and incompetence.
Obviously this would be after a General election, so hopefully not a Conservative PM at all.
Caroline Lucas is an excellent call or Yvette Cooper with Zarah Sultana as deputy.

Absolutely!

bbqhulahoop · 07/07/2022 18:06

Starmer. Not a fan but none of the tories are remotely likeable or good leaders

winemedown · 07/07/2022 18:10

Not Tory but... I am torn between wanting a labour government and then seeing someone of colour as PM.
It's like that episode of Will and Grace where there is a gay man and a Jewish woman standing, and so Will and Grace blindly campaign for them before realising that they're policies are awful! My heart wants that for representation but not what they stand for.
