Hurrah.

I wasn't planning to drink today but I might have to get a bottle of bubbly for this. 😂

Badger1970 · 07/07/2022 09:35

Poor Carrie must be clutching the walls screaming "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Boris, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

HollowTalk · 07/07/2022 09:35

11Hawkins · 07/07/2022 09:27

So who runs the country then? As Rishi obviously stepped down as deputy PM. 🤔

Raab is deputy.

StrawberriesAndCreamPlease · 07/07/2022 09:36

Of course he’s going.

quiteathome · 07/07/2022 09:36

Wonder when the divorce will be on the wallpaper

Viviennemary · 07/07/2022 09:37

He is resigning today but carriyng on until a new Tory leader is elected. Its the summer recess in Parliament anyway.

Mischance · 07/07/2022 09:34

They won't let him stay till autumn - they will be a laughing stock!

It’s him all over, he wants to stay so he beats May’s record.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 07/07/2022 09:37

Not quite gone yet, but it looks pretty certain - and I'm stuck in meetings most of the day so will miss it live Sad

SingingInParadise · 07/07/2022 09:38

11Hawkins · 07/07/2022 09:33

😂😂😂😂 do you think she's crying into her wallpaper? Carrie is awful it's clear she influenced Boris a lot.

Seriously??

You are saying that we have/had a PM so weak that he is just a pawn in his wife’s hands.

And that who he has shown to actually be wasn’t obvious? That he never has been a liar, a sex pest and unreliable. Maybe that’s why he was never fired from a few of his previous jobs too.

He has always been like this. It was just easier to see him ‘as a bit of clown’ or ‘one of the lads’ rather than the incompetent liar he has always been.

countrylifer · 07/07/2022 09:38

There are gaping holes all over the government - if he stays are those people coming back to their jobs? Seems unlikely.

He has to go now and they need a caretaker PM, otherwise the government literally cannot govern. The education department is now down to a single unpaid minister for example.

Ncwinc · 07/07/2022 09:39

“the mums and dads and watching this programme deserve …”
“the people of this country are basically Tories even if they vote Labour”

Steve Baker is an utter tosspot

This rolling news is going to be Hmm.

Rolling in very choppy seas at the moment!

Still the official line is only that Boris will be making a statement.

Wonder what the odds are that he will call a general election?

I wouldn't put anything past him.

Well, that's what he says. But how can he? Who can credibly agree to serve in his cabinet when they've publicly resigned because they don't believe he has integrity and honesty and don't think he is fit to be PM?

TooBigForMyBoots · 07/07/2022 09:40

He's going to be our first Prime Minister for Life.

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 07/07/2022 09:41

In fairness lifer that's better than the education department have had for most of Boris' leadership

TheSoundOfLunch · 07/07/2022 09:41

🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 07/07/2022 09:42

Is he hoping to stay but get re-elected as party leader or something?

I used to work in central gov and at fairly high level once (contract, director general in Defra) and we had a minister resign which my boss said would never happen and did when he was on a day trip somewhere!

MyHusbandTheIdiot · 07/07/2022 09:42

Raab as caretaker PM though 🤢🤢

It’s like Sophie’s Choice on steroids.

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 07/07/2022 09:42

This made me laugh, but a gallows humour laugh .

Anothernamechangeplease · 07/07/2022 09:42

I'm also curious as to who will serve in his cabinet until October.Confused

SingingInParadise · 07/07/2022 09:42

The question is : why is he not going and his deputy PM takes over until the vote in October?
Is that because he is still hoping to turn things round, again?

A few months as a PM is going to give him the opportunity to play, scheme and generally try and make things to his advantage again.

Letting him stay is not a good idea

EllieRosesMammy · 07/07/2022 09:42

BYEEEEE X

I wouldn't put anything past him.

This is my worry - he'll call a general election, think people are so worried by cost of living crisis etc that they'll vote for Tories and him again as PM/party leader.

He's a slimy beast that's unkind to slimy beasts! and wouldn't put anything past him!
