I was sure in the early 90s I used to absolutely love an ice cream I think was called ‘Mirage’ ? Maybe I’ve got the name wrong as googling isn’t coming up with anything ??!!

it was a bit like a solero but lemon shaped 🤷‍♀️ Maybe I dreamt it .

Also - a lemon drink called ‘Gini ‘??? Or have I made that up too 🤣🤣🤣

OP have you tried contacting Walls? Send them a tweet. They will have an archivist who could look through the records for you.

It was most likely a tester product sold in a few postcodes to see if it sold well.

I don’t have Twitter but I guess I could contact them another way! It’s so weird I can’t find anything at all online about it

If you're talking about plain chocolate coated choc ices with a white rather than green mint ice cream filling, then yes I remember those.

And for those of you talking about Indian restaurants that used to sell lemon sorbet served in a whole lemon, my local one still does. Although I generally prefer the coconut ice cream in a half shell that they do.

Yes! I think you are right. They were choc ices. They were very nice indeed.

Oops! I tried to send a pic but you can look on Google. Was it a Boomy? I don't remember these in the U.K. but they were in other countries

Was the gini drink Orangini? They were weird little glass bottles that you had to shake. Do they still exist?

Yea my little boy loves these!

EnoBaby · 25/06/2022 07:08

Aqua Libra?

FedUpToTheBackTooth · 25/06/2022 07:12

You haven’t imagined it! It is mentioned in this article. Unfortunately there are no photos. It was a Lyon’s Maid ice lolly.

I’m sure I used to get wibbly wobbly lollies - they were half red half yellow, can I find any evidence of them now though - such a pain when you can’t find something and you feel you might have imagined it!

@Martinisarebetterdirty

Do you mean these? I found this while trawling for OP.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 25/06/2022 08:00

Thanks @SpidersAreShitheads but no, they def didn’t have chocolate on them (I wouldn’t have been allowed them 😁)! They were almost like frozen jelly on a stick.

SpidersAreShitheads · 25/06/2022 08:03

@Martinisarebetterdirty Ooh I definitely saw a reference to a lolly like that at some point while I was looking! Wasn't called a Wobbly Wobbly though I don't think. Might you have mixed up the names and appearances of two lollies?

Wibbly Wobbly would make more sense for a jelly type lolly though wouldn't it?!! Not quite sure where the chocolate comes into that haha

Hiphopfrogger · 25/06/2022 08:07

Thank you to the people who have suggested Aqua Libra but k don’t think it’s that because the dates are wrong. AL seems to have been popular in the 80s and disappeared in the 90s but the drink I remember definitely came out around 1995. Unless it was a brief reappearance of it that then was discontinued I suppose.

Garman · 25/06/2022 08:08

Amazing how many people have said "was it a Solero?", rtft 😂

SirVixofVixHall · 25/06/2022 08:33

Midnight Mint was a mint flavoured choc ice on a stick. Dark chocolate, white ice cream. An owl on the wrapper.
They were delicious.

Beautiful3 · 25/06/2022 08:35

@RedLemonade thanks for that picture. I loved fat frogs! They were my favourite!

Thighdentitycrisis · 25/06/2022 08:36

@FedUpToTheBackTooth

Im reminiscing about a Toffee Crumble now

I remember these! Strawberry(?) and banana ice-cream on the bottom, chocolate-covered lemon jelly on the top.

Favouritefruits · 25/06/2022 09:14

I reckon it was a lemon solero but as a child you assumed because it was lemon flavour it was a lemon shape.

SisterAgatha · 25/06/2022 09:49

They were right to call it Mirage, there’s no trace of it!

looking online for this has been a total nostalgia treat. Remember zapp’s? What flavour even were they?! And Bionic Lolly, but of a let down when you got one of those.

and ice cream in a cardboard box which you sliced.

Moveorstay2022 · 25/06/2022 10:39

Ice cream vans nowadays sell a version of zap which looks the same but doesn't taste as creamy, an insult to the original!

I know !! I cannot find one picture of it anywhere !!! Is it weird I want to see one I can remember the ice cream itself but not the packaging

I also remember Mirages, they were DS1s favourite, hard to find and only around for a couple of years

Not the one in the bottom left corner, is it?

Staters · 25/06/2022 11:31

Is it this? Only lemon shaped one I can find.

Does anyone remember thjs drink that was around briefly in the mid 90s…it was carbonated but the flavour was herbal. I think it was marketed as a health drink. Might only have been around for 1 summer!

Purdeys, came in a matte silver bottle
