I was sure in the early 90s I used to absolutely love an ice cream I think was called ‘Mirage’ ? Maybe I’ve got the name wrong as googling isn’t coming up with anything ??!!

it was a bit like a solero but lemon shaped 🤷‍♀️ Maybe I dreamt it .

Also - a lemon drink called ‘Gini ‘??? Or have I made that up too 🤣🤣🤣

Could it have been a homemade ice-cream your parents made in the freezer using lemonade and mould?

Does anyone remember thjs drink that was around briefly in the mid 90s…it was carbonated but the flavour was herbal. I think it was marketed as a health drink. Might only have been around for 1 summer!

@Hiphopfrogger i think I remember that - called something like Aquavita? Or similar?

@honeybushbunch yes! Definitely something like aquavita but when I google it nothing comes up. I’m pretty certain it was in a can, whiteish and green colouring.

lazarusb · 24/06/2022 23:41

You can still buy Gini in France. I love it.

It was definitely solero like in that it was ice cream within a fruit sorbet ish ‘shell’

''Mivvi''?
Ate one and was sick at Newland's corner as a kid, so remember the name.
Definitely sorbet with ice cream inner . B oak.

FrankGrillosFloof · 24/06/2022 23:47

Does anyone remember a Walls ice lolly called "Fame"? It was like a large Fab only a zillion times nicer.

hertfordlady · 24/06/2022 23:51

I swear I remember the name 'mirage' in relation to the ice cream man, but in my head it was similar to a magnum rather than a solero.. And I also can't find anything via googling 🤔

This is what I was thinking too! It's what I thought when OP mentioned it.

Are you sure it wasn't a boomy OP?

I think Tesco or Icelands own brand are called Mirage. Or some supermarket own brand version.

No because I have all these memories of going to the little shop near our house to get them and also once after a really long walk we stopped off and the little cafe sold them , I remember being happy to see it on the board on the shutter of the little kiosk bit !

Aqua Libra. I think Purdeys came out at the same time and was more popular so killed off Aqua Libra.
