I was sure in the early 90s I used to absolutely love an ice cream I think was called ‘Mirage’ ? Maybe I’ve got the name wrong as googling isn’t coming up with anything ??!!

it was a bit like a solero but lemon shaped 🤷‍♀️ Maybe I dreamt it .

Also - a lemon drink called ‘Gini ‘??? Or have I made that up too 🤣🤣🤣

I’ve googled everything I can think of to find it and there’s nothing - surely if it had existed there would be something somewhere . I think I might have dreamt it 🤣🤣🤣

It just popped into my head this evening as I’ve been looking at 90s stuff but there’s no trace of it anywhere

Are you thinking of when you used to go to a restaurant and they had a frozen orange or lemon full of ice cream?

(also these ads prove solero originally had no swirl so up yours SIL, I was right!)

Aqua Libra. I think Purdeys came out at the same time and was more popular so killed off Aqua Libra.

I loved Aqua Libra, used to drink it all the time. It came in big green glass bottles.

I found Funny Feet ice creams in a supermarket freezer the other week....

Ooh which one? I know Asda and Iceland used to sell them. But was no longer available with my last Asda shop. Iceland no longer have them either.

We never went out to eat so it was definitely from a shop I remember the wrapper and I’m so sure it was called mirage or something very similar

I don't remember anything like that. Did you buy them from a shop or kiosk or could they have been supermarkets own?

From the newsagent and also I remember vividly a kiosk at a little cafe in a park sold them when we had been out one day and I was so happy

They weren’t around long though I remember how disappointed I was when they disappeared (assuming they were actually real !!)

The one I remember from the 90s that I don't think exists any more was a Disney ice lolly. Lemonade flavour with a cola flavoured Mickey Mouse head set into it.

Useranon1 · 25/06/2022 00:45

Was it a megabyte?

SpaceFarce · 25/06/2022 00:51

I recall a summer holiday VIVIDLY where all my mum was eating for lunch was a mirage ice cream on the beach whilst we all played in the sea! This was in Cornwall somewhere around 1995-1996 I think! You haven't imagined them OP and it's driving me barmy that I can find no evidence they existed on Google!

There was definitely an ice lolly called a Mivi (or a Cornish Mivi) like a solero but with a fruit outer and ice cream inner. They tended to be strawberry but there were lemon and orange ones.

Mivvis were around long before Soleros. So rather than saying they were like a Solero, I'd say Soleros were like Mivvis Grin

Bluesparkled · 25/06/2022 02:08

I recall something a bit like funny feet in that it was a flat lemon shape like that, kind of a pale yellow but ice cream, not with sorbet around. No idea what it was! I do remember a lemon thing but it might have been an actual frozen lemon with ice cream in.
Feasts were a LOT better in the old days too!

BadNomad · 25/06/2022 02:27

This rings a bell for me. Might not be the same thing, though. I don't remember it being a lolly, but I do remember having it in a bowl. Lemon-shaped shell with ice cream or sorbet inside.

Does anyone remember thjs drink that was around briefly in the mid 90s…it was carbonated but the flavour was herbal. I think it was marketed as a health drink. Might only have been around for 1 summer!

Melon and cucumber plus ginger and a few herbs? Aqua Libra. The name was bought and the current drinks under its are vile.

WiddlinDiddlin · 25/06/2022 03:22

I remember a flat pale yellow lemon shaped type thing - I remember trying the Del Monte lemon smoothie lolly relatively recently and it reminded me of it in texture and taste, though without the outer coating. Try that if you can find it/if they still do it as its very close I think!

Unfortunately couldn't tell you the name of the mystery lemon lolly!

Does anyone remember a midnight mint ice cream that was around during the 70’s for a brief period?
Can remember roller skating with my strap on skates, on holiday when I first tasted it. Can still remember the deliciousness of it now.

If you're talking about plain chocolate coated choc ices with a white rather than green mint ice cream filling, then yes I remember those.

And for those of you talking about Indian restaurants that used to sell lemon sorbet served in a whole lemon, my local one still does. Although I generally prefer the coconut ice cream in a half shell that they do.

NoToLandfill · 25/06/2022 05:04

OP have you tried contacting Walls? Send them a tweet. They will have an archivist who could look through the records for you.

It was most likely a tester product sold in a few postcodes to see if it sold well.

Inthesameboatatmo · 25/06/2022 06:15

@Hashbrownsandwich.
Was it called Zap? Had a caramel flavour. I bloody loved those.
