This is hilarious. The Tiverton &Honiton by-election tory candidate has produced an 8 page booklet she's handing out. She doesn't mention she is conservative until page 4. After that the word 'conservative' appears just 3 more times.
Ashamed. eh?

This is apparently illegal in electoral law.

ClaudineClare · 17/06/2022 12:31

That list is exhausting! (I said that about last weeks).
Strong and stable indeed.

I did note the comments underneath saying that it’s not obviously a candidate promotion publication rather than a periodical and bears a striking resemblance to a legitimate local publication.

on one hand I can’t blame her, on the other if you’re not proud of the banner you’re flying under maybe subterfuge isn’t the answer you’re looking for.

But there are strict limits on who can publish what and how much can be spent.

Just read that, I didn't know about number 63-67, absolute shambles Angry

12 years but blame Labour

Vulnerable patients will miss appointments.
Doctors and nurses won’t be able to get to work.
It’s time Wes Streeting put patients first, stands up for the NHS and condemns the unjustified rail strikes

NEW: Boris Johnson has cancelled a Wakefield by-election campaign visit and Q&A with Northern Tories today.

Sounds like the order came down from the top last night - CCHQ and No10 people are baffled.

Today had been marked out in the No10 grid as "LEADERSHIP".

Simply can't think why they don't want to wheel out the Big Dog.

He just updated his tweet with

Seems that Johnson has more important matters on today and am told that all will be revealed shortly...

That’s just reeks of last-minute-homework

Busy writing his resignation speech? 😁

L1ttledrummergirl · 17/06/2022 14:18

An interesting development in another area.

Patel has given the go ahead for Julian Asange to be extradited to America.

I find this interesting because the people I know who shout loudest about freedom of speech and how wrong it is to extradite him as tldr: he's not done anything wrong, are the ones who are Johnsons biggest supporters.

This might be another own goal.

ClaudineClare · 17/06/2022 14:18

Is he going to pull some sort of populist rabbit out of the hat in a desperate attempt to mitigate the possible political carnage of next week?

Cornettoninja · 17/06/2022 14:35

Re: Assange, his high profile extradition highlights the home offices failure to extradite Anna Sacoolas amongst other things.

Notonthestairs · 17/06/2022 14:35

Forgot to attach this bit....

"NEW: I've done an analysis of every time No10 announced a phone call between Boris Johnson and President Zelensky and it's amazing how many have coincided with his worst crises (full disclosure, No10 have told me this thesis is "ludicrous")"

ClaudineClare · 17/06/2022 14:42

Could Carrie have another bun in the oven?

HappypusSadpus · 17/06/2022 15:06

I wonder if it's the Queen.

Notonthestairs · 17/06/2022 15:28

He's in Kyiv.

Notonthestairs · 17/06/2022 15:29

In the light of Johnson travels I'm going to repost this link! Grin

Notonthestairs · 17/06/2022 15:30

One up from a mere phone call.

ClaudineClare · 17/06/2022 15:31

God, that is desperate of him.

IpanemaBelle · 17/06/2022 15:34

He desperately wants to play at being Churchill.

ClaudineClare · 17/06/2022 15:35

I wonder what Zelensky really thinks of him? Do you think he sees through Johnson and know that he is using the war in Ukraine to try and shore up his position at home? It is sickening.

itsgettingweird · 17/06/2022 16:05

guinnessguzzler · 17/06/2022 00:21

I'd quite happily tell him just how unethical he is for free ... where do I sign up? Lying bag of lies 😡

Love this!

DuncinToffee · 17/06/2022 16:05

I agree with this sentiment, it's not like Johnson is going to show up empty handed

If Johnson's political desperation keeps pushing him into giving more help to Ukraine then that's a great silver lining as far as I'm concerned.

'Janiie! How are you this glorious 🌞 morning?'

"Decline comes before a fall. We are witnessing the decline part of Call-me-Churchill's fall right now.'

Oh I'm fine thanks! shorts on, just wiping down the slightly rusty barbecue for later.

We aren't witnessing anything of the kind. Anyway, as always thank God he was at the wheel the last 2 years and not the hapless motley crue opposite. I see Sir Beer is trying his hand at comedy. Imagine the froth if Bozo had called someone else say like Blackford Jabba the Hut. It would have been fatshaming outrage galore on here!

But it isn't Johnson or Labour.

Tory were voted in. Surely they h e someone better than Johnson to helm the party?

If not then we wouldn't have worse under Labour imo.
