No worries, I was stuck at home today waiting for a signed delivery.

You do have to wonder why he didn't resign before though.

Johnson contemplating not appointing a new Ethics adviser. Doing away with the position altogether.
He is 'reviewing the situation' his spokesman says

You couldn't make it up. V worrying

That's actually quite sensible, given that no-one wants to commit career suicide by applying for the job.

ilovesooty · 16/06/2022 23:05

Thank you @DuncinToffee

guinnessguzzler · 17/06/2022 00:21

I'd quite happily tell him just how unethical he is for free ... where do I sign up? Lying bag of lies 😡

Johnson is having severe difficulty hiring an Ethics adviser.

Honestly, the number willing to accept the role doesn't extend beyond Prince Andrew.

'Appreciate new thread, BJ is going nowhere'

Exactly. Totally agree.

Whatever happened to those 'the fall of BJ' threads..

Notonthestairs · 17/06/2022 07:38

Because it's all going swimmingly...

Notonthestairs · 17/06/2022 07:43

Interesting that Ethics Advisor is considered "vitally important" but also able to be dispensed with.

Notonthestairs · 17/06/2022 07:47

A flavour of some of the language in #Geidt's resignation letter:

"impossible"
"odious"
"inconsistencies"
"deliberate and purposeful breach"
"mockery"
"an affront"
"I can have no part in this"

Just your common or garden Downing Street resignation letter.

Good lord, here you are a blast from the past!
(Hardly surprising you've been a bit quiet given the Government's latest shenanigans!)
Don't recall a thread called 'the fall of BJ'. Certainly none of these up to this one number 7.

Let me add... BJ is going nowhere YET. He hangs around enabled by his sycophantic over promoted incapable Ministers.

Roussette · 17/06/2022 07:51

Just for you Janiie. This is who you back. Enjoy!

"Another remarkable stat from BoE: Core goods price inflation rose to 8.0% in UK in April, compared to 3.8% in euro area and 6.4% in US. What on earth could have happened to the UK to drive inflation to such uniquely ruinous levels? BoE too timid to say the word."

Cornettoninja as an answer to your post on the previous thread, I thought you might enjoy the latest Rosie Holt

twitter.com/RosieisaHolt/status/1537435118133907460?t=mWwMLGg79dVp2QWAjFKr2A&s=19

omg, I watched that far too early after waking up and genuinely struggled to differentiate from reality Grin

Hey Janiie! How’s the cult of personality going? No orders for kool-aid on the Ocado delivery I hope?

What’s your take on BJ systematically attempting to dismantle the legacy of his own grandfather and ‘hero’ Winston Churchill?

Also, do you, or do you not agree, that criticism is a fundamental tool of democracy and one that a competent politician should be prepared for and able to deal with in a professional manner?

cakeorwine · 17/06/2022 08:05

This time next week we will have the results of the 2 by-elections. I wonder if there is going to be some big distraction to try and hide the results which sound like they aren't going to go the Conservative's way. Despite the red meat being thrown.

A collection of resignation statements.

Sept 2020, Lord Keen, Advocate General for Scotland, resigns over Gov breach of international law:

The one from Munira Mirza lands significantly for me. A friend and colleague of over a decade simply can’t reconcile your actions and they have to disassociate themselves from you to answer their conscience.

I keep meaning to listen to BJ’s sisters show on LBC, I’m fascinated on what her take is if she broaches the subject at all.

DuncinToffee · 17/06/2022 08:27

Janiie is right about the ^fall'' threads. We got up to thread 8 in April, (last post was expressing shock at the Rwanda announcement) , and then they merged with this one.

He is still falling.

Janiie! How are you this glorious 🌞 morning?

Decline comes before a fall. We are witnessing the decline part of Call-me-Churchill's fall right now.

She talks about him quite a lot. There was a time when she was quite critical of him, mainly around lockdowns, masks etc. Now there is a lot of denial, and we just are being mean to Al (which is what he is called when he is not being Boris), who is a lovely person really.🙄

DuncinToffee · 17/06/2022 08:37

She said the same about Ghislaine Maxwell

YouGov POLL: 67% of Britons - and 49% of Tory voters - think that Boris Johnson generally behaves in an unethical way

I note that the Conservative candidate for T&H has refused to say whether she believes Johnson is honest.
"I think Boris believes he is honest."
Not quite the same thing is it?
😂

Cornettoninja · 17/06/2022 09:07

Thanks @ClaudineClare, I’ll have to charge up my headphones so I can have a pick through her show without dd clocking I’m paying her Roblox zero attention Grin

Rachel Johnson is quite dreadful. She bleats on about him being called a lot of names, and he's a good PM really, and he made a mistake, and he's apologised and blah de blah and the classic 'we should all look up to him, not down at him'

If he was worth looking up to, we would. He isn't.
