I have a good friend living in the US. When Trump was president she said she'd listen/watch/read the news and immediately think "oh God, what has he said now."
I feel like that.

A sense of public service is missing under Johnson. It's just flagrant self serving gibberish spewed by the Cabinet. UKIP under the Tory banner.

guinnessguzzler · 29/06/2022 21:40

Wtf have I just read? What is wrong with these people?!

ginandbearit · 29/06/2022 22:17

I wish Labour would unleash Emily Thornberry onto the tories more...incisive , articulate and just the type of woman Boris is scared of...make her Attack Dog in Chief !

He’d probably enjoy it way too much. I expect she reminds him of his nanny.

RosesandMoonshine · 29/06/2022 23:12

Why are people on here so beholden to class values?
We had more freedom in the UK when this wasn't quite the obsession.
An obsession with class usually predicts a right wing gov.

Who fucking cares if Thornberry reminds him of his nanny?
I sure don't.
Let's upstage that oily piggy faced prick regardless.
He is an embarrassment to the entire country. Jesus christ is this what we have become? This limpet-like mass of roll-over shit?

Zonder · 30/06/2022 06:50

I woke to the voice of Gove on radio 4 saying that whole BloJo has done a great job bla bla he now no longer feels he is the right man to lead the country.

Except I can't find anything about this online, on Twitter or anywhere else.

Did I dream it???

Notonthestairs · 30/06/2022 06:55

For a number of reasons I hope you haven't had a dream about Gove!

Roussette · 30/06/2022 07:15

Why are people on here so beholden to class values?

I think the majority of posters on here are completely the opposite to that. The nanny post was a joke! Like talking about Rees-Mogg and his nanny! Those Eton boys love their nannies and we're taking the piss out of them.

Tony Blair on the radio now talking about a conference about a new grouping in politics.
Bring it on I say.

L1ttledrummergirl · 30/06/2022 09:08

Thanks ta all who congratulated dd. She's taken the car and gone to school.

I knew there was a reason I called him blow job Johnson, even if I was told off for being lewd on mnet. The private eye article just cleared me Confused

I couldn't give a stuff about class values, I just think that those who serve the public, who should represent their constituents, should actually engage with them, listen to all viewpoints and act with the highest moral and ethical standards in good faith for the benefit of all society. They should be the best of our society, not the worst.

Thats why I'm pissed off with the current crop of conservatives. 211 of them think that this is the best we can do showing they are also morally and ethically bankrupt. We don't know who they are so my assumption is that all conservative mps are tarred with the same brush and I think that's very sad for british politics.

itsgettingweird · 30/06/2022 09:12

I had a weird experience about hearing Bernie Eccleson (former F1) talking about how great Putin is and this war is because Zelensky didn't do enough to prevent it.

I honestly thought I was still in post anaesthetic hysteria but turns out there was an actual interview on GMB. I'd woken and turned tv on and dozed back to sleep.

I then watched the Truss interview a bit later on and she actually was quite restrained for once and it was that where they showed her his interview and I knew it was real Shock

Lonelycrab · 30/06/2022 09:13

A coalition between Timmy Mallet and Bob the Builder would be an improvement on what we have now.

But in seriousness I deeply hope that Lab/Lib/Green come to some kind of agreement as it’s so important for the good of this country, that this govt are given their marching orders. It almost doesn’t matter what happens next, as long as the damage stops. My worry is that Labour try and go it alone and don’t quite manage it.

DuncinToffee · 30/06/2022 09:16

I saw some rumours on twitter that it was Gavin Williamson who walked in on the act, that would explain his knighthood.

Only rumours though.

itsgettingweird Oh yes it was real. Ecclestone said Putin was a first class man and he would "take a bullet for him" Unbelievable.

Tbf if I walked in on that, I'd expect some pretty heavy duty recompense for the trauma.

Yes! I remember the tagline now. That's why I felt it couldn't be real. He came across very unwell the way he spoke or certainly has brought into the whole "it wasn't a war but a military operation" line.

DuncinToffee · 30/06/2022 09:34

For once I agreed with Truss.

I can’t help feeling they scored an own goal putting their efforts into suppressing the nepotism story. I care far less about who Carrie gives a blow job over Boris trying to get her a job. Granted that’s probably a large part of the ‘why’ but truthfully we all knew they were bumping uglies anyway. If they’d let that bit run the media would have barely glanced at the begging for jobs bit over a bit of salacious gossip.

I don't know if it was real but it wouldn't be the first time Gove said that about Johnson of course. Shame Gove didn't stick by his original pronouncement!

P.S could you listen to the likely bit again on BBC Sounds catch up? Does seem a bit too good to be true. Sadly, it is, of course true re Ecclestone.

Pps congratulations to L1ttledrummergirl dd!

For those who want to get rid of ECHR

The European Court of Human Rights seeking to extend its protection over British prisoners of war threatened with the death penalty.
