Johnson has been warned by May

"As I discovered after I faced a no confidence vote, they then start to ask themselves, is it really worth negotiating with these people because will they actually be there for any period of time?"

(they as in world leaders)

Meanwhile the Mail online have buried one tiny story on this 3/4 way down their homepage. Such a change from a few years back when it was all Brexit sunny uplands plastered from top to bottom.

DowningStreetParty · 28/06/2022 09:20

Honestly, I despair. They ruin us as a country then try to break internal law. This is not taking back control, it’s just being completely out of control.

He's going to get away with everything isn't he? Unbelievable that there are MPs voting for this farce and Truss is now a "patriot". Spelled Idiot. They'll be putting our sons in khaki next to help Bozo save the world, it'll be the patriotic thing to do. Unspeakable.

Blossomtoes · 28/06/2022 12:45

He's going to get away with everything isn't he?

No, he’s going to keep pushing his luck, wearing his party’s patience thinner and thinner until he reaches peak delusion and calls an election. He’s making the Tories completely unelectable, hopefully for a very long time.

That's my hope Smile

Blossomtoes · 28/06/2022 13:23

And mine @prettybird.

newnamethanks · 28/06/2022 13:44

It's my hope too but instead of appearing closer it's seeming more distant. I look at the witless sheep supporting him in parliament and just despair. Liz Truss, questioned by Chris Bryant today at Foreign Affairs Select Committee, is just dreadful. LOL at her incompetence and lack of understanding but hells bells, she's hopeless and she's the Foreign Secretary. Our international representative and putative future PM. I'm going to do a Clavinova and go out. Sun's shining at least.

"61 Conservative MPs voted against extending abortion access in Northern Ireland last week, including Jacob Rees-Mogg and several other ministers."

Conservatives once again revealing that they are the party for women's rights. Mainly men voting but at least half a dozen women.

DuncinToffee · 28/06/2022 15:42

One of those said

Conservative MP Danny Kruger says the UK should not be “lecturing” the US about abortion rights.

He says he disagrees with those who "think that women have an absolute right to bodily autonomy in this matter."

Stella Creasy

Currently only women in Northern Ireland have protected human right to an abortion in law. I will be tabling amendment to forthcoming UK bill of rights to guarantee this for all UK women. If you want your MP to vote for it - as will be free vote- tell them!

Danny Kruger was one on the 2019 intake. He used to work for the Centre for Policy Studies, a Conservative think tank based at Tufton Street - choc full of right wing enthusiasts bankrolled by corporate interests [and others].

Someone on his Wiki page updated his page to read MP for Gilead. Sadly I didn't get a screenshot before it was amended.

DuncinToffee · 28/06/2022 16:30

Here it is

I didn't know he is Pru Leith's son and thought he was abiut 10 years older.

Oh, but at least they know what a woman is etc.🙄

Blossomtoes · 28/06/2022 17:57

Bastards.

ClaudineClare · 28/06/2022 18:03

It's frightening.

Leadsome's reaction tonthat

Steve Bray has spent six years screaming abuse through a loudhailer at me and many others as often as he saw us for the ‘crime’ of trying to fulfil the democratic decision of the UK to leave the EU. This action by the police to stop his violent protest is very welcome

FFS another one who knows what a woman is

Astonishing. "30p Lee" reckons that a female MP complaining about the woeful 1.6% rape conviction rate in the Commons will "encourage" men "thinking about doing these things to go and commit them".

This needs to get out there louder. They are not the party for women. Not one little teeny tiny bit.

tobee · 28/06/2022 18:48

Shouldn't Braverman be being de wigged by the bar association or something?

Do you think Tory MPs were threatened with whip removal of they voted against? I suppose that's normal procedure anyway. If these abstaining backbenchers mean what they've said previously they should look on losing the whip as a good thing.

Piggywaspushed · 28/06/2022 18:51

This is a fuller thread with lots of Wiki edits...

L1ttledrummergirl · 28/06/2022 19:45

As Danny Kruger is political secretary to the Pm, I assume that this view is representative of the cabinet as nobody else has condemned it.

I also assume then that the rest of the cabinet, including the PM agree and that this is the direction of travel they intend to go. No-one has resigned in protest.

balalake · 28/06/2022 19:49

Mr Johnson will probably keep quiet about abortion. As one of his mistresses had one.
