Dowden knows something. He knows Johnson is on his way out and wants to distance himself so he can preserve his career for when the next Tory leader is in place.

Roussette · 24/06/2022 07:18

OMG!

Charlie Stayte has just said that Oliver Dowden WAS due to speak on BBC Breakfast this morning!

That was honestly just a stupid guess from me! He probably didn't sleep all night and as sobbing this morning saying
"I can't do it, I can't do it booohooo" 😂

jgw1 · 24/06/2022 07:10

Well they should have done. Each party in government will go through mid-term blues. I am absolutely confident that the Conservatives can turn things around and at the next GE election swings to Labour will be limited to under 10% and to the Lid Dems to under 25%.

I thought this was a serious post until I realised it was you jgw

Tories are in disarray.

I joked that Oliver Dowden was due to be on BBC Breakfast this morning and that's why he resigned.
That was actually true. Raab standing in for him at 7.30am says Charlie Stayte.
Now told by Stayte that Raab won't attend as it is a 'changing situation' and BBC are waiting to hear who will attend.

Changing situation = who the f**k can we get to be the fall guy on BBC Breakfast this morning, we can't find anyone!

"Changing situation" - let's hope so.

ok, well good luck. Breaking from the ECHU is going to be a tough one to break without publicly trashing human rights.

Personally I’m not sure BJ and co. can go a full calendar month without creating a headline that reveals what an appalling bunch of morally vacuous lint rollers they are.

No one has been able to explain to me why people who cross the channel in small boats should have human rights. That is what this is about. They are foreign, fleeing persecuation in foreign lands, why should they come here. I want to live here in peace with other white people, not have foreigners coming here reminding me that the only reason I live a rich and well off life is because we continue to exploit the poor.

itsgettingweird · 24/06/2022 07:31

I also joked he probably couldn't stand up and defend Johnson anymore.

Seems they might be starting to smell the coffee - and it's strong!

Notonthestairs · 24/06/2022 07:32

I wonder if this means the gloves will come off in CCHQ and all the scandals (bound to be more under the bed) will start tumbling out.

I know. She got me too. It’s my bil’s funeral today and waking to this news has made what’s guaranteed to be an awful day a tiny bit more bearable. How’s this being spun on the news programmes? I’m in someone else’s house and can’t watch/listen.

Has anybody ever fancied themselves as a senior Tory? Now's your chance, just pop by the studio and get stuck in. Like Cats as imagined in Kimmy Schmidt, the Tories will now welcome anyone who slinks on during a live performance. They're fucked.

Where are Clav, @JaniieJones Marsha, Derxa and friends when you need them?

Notonthestairs · 24/06/2022 07:35

Buckland is on Sky at 8.30 apparently.

Me. Me. Pick me. I can be convincing for about 20seconds.

Roussette · 24/06/2022 07:37

@Blossomtoes I hope the funeral goes just as it should do. Flowers

As for how it is all going, we now have a back bench MP Roger Gale trying to defend. Gale, however, did vote against BJ in the VONC so he is saying the right things and that BJ should go.

This is amusing... the Tiverton Tory candidate locks herself in a room...

Roussette · 24/06/2022 07:42

Roger Gale sounds absolutely furious with Johnson. Don't blame him. The party is being destroyed from the inside out.

Johnson said it would take panzer tanks to get him out. I hope this to be true. Let him carry on until the next GE because this is better than a soap. (I am joking in that I know the damage they are doing to the country. I'm old and I have never ever seen it so bad)

At this minute in time, they can't find anyone to come on BBC, who say they are still waiting to hear who's going to turn up

ClaudineClare · 24/06/2022 07:48

Maybe they should send out Jonathan Gullis? That would really round things off nicely. 🤣

HeddaGarbled · 24/06/2022 07:51

Where’s Nad?

cakeorwine · 24/06/2022 07:52

Remember when Partygate and the video emerged of the press conference - and no one turned up on the media round to defend Johnson.

It's going to be the Tory party who have to remove Johnson.

Cornettoninja · 24/06/2022 07:52

Have they tried counting to twenty and shouting ‘coming ready or not’? Tories seem quite partial to hiding.

Noisyprat · 24/06/2022 07:54

Looks like Priti has stepped up to do the interviews.

This is different evidently they are facing different challenges. It's VITAL they get on with the job.

Argh the vaccine roll out .....

When will they all just GO AWAY 😕

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 24/06/2022 07:56

Therese Coffey hasn’t been wheeled out in a while. I’d like to hear her defend her boss and why so many full-time workers have to rely on benefits.

DuncinToffee · 24/06/2022 07:59

A very good morning all Grin

Late start so will have to catch up with it all once I have had my coffee

@Noisyprat I am nowhere near a TV - did she really mention the vaccine roll out?!
