Jgw I don't disagree - however you need a few well known names coming out from the woodwork to create movement** and provide cover. Doesn't mean they'd win a leadership contest.

What bugs me is that the £38 billion Test & Trace contract given to cronies the private sector is called the NHS Test & Trace, whereas the Vaccine rollout, which was done by the NHS, the Government takes all the credit for ConfusedAngry

I think this is what they mean when they say Boris got the big decisions right.

Roussette · 06/06/2022 11:53

I am sick to death with all his cronies parroting 'the people want us to get on with the job in hand'
How dare he. Dominic Raab has said it 5 times live at the moment.
Sorry now 6.

Hunt to be fair has sounded eminently more sensible during covid than those actually in government, but it is important that people do not forget what a mess he deliberately made whilst he was a minister.

Andrea Jenkyns got the save Johnson memo and tweeting from the train.

The Thick of It has been mentioned Grin

New: Opinium has the first snap poll of public view on today's confidence vote

59% think Tory MPs should vote to remove PM
28% think they should vote to keep him
13% Don't know

Just been reminded that the person who's probably having the best day is Theresa May. I've got a vision of her standing in line to the committee room at 5:59pm, with her Sharpie in her hand and a very serious expression that is by no means a huge grin.

Notonthestairs · 06/06/2022 12:04

I've just heard JRM - "are we really going to change PM over cake?. 🙄 Nice try Jacob.

You see strategically to get rid of the Tories, I would say Tory MPs should vote that they have confidence in Boris, because then this fiasco keeps going and going closer to the GE.

Notonthestairs · 06/06/2022 12:09

They can vote by proxy so I suppose the MP investigated for rape can still submit his vote.

It was very good of Dominic Raab to go on the TV just now. I feel much more intelligent having heard him.

DuncinToffee · 06/06/2022 12:17

I agree jgw1

Nadine Dorries is having a go at Jeremy Hunt on twitter.

Let the infighting commence

It is worth putting on the tv just to see if you can catch a glimpse of May!

Notonthestairs · 06/06/2022 12:46

"Let the infighting commence"

Yes all pretence of unity will be lost over the next few weeks.

Anyone seen any supportive tweets from Patel? I can see most of the Cabinet have used their C&P skills.

I just heard her on LBC sqwarking ‘delivering for the British people’ over and over like a brainwashed parrot.

Its just meaningless words put in a vaguely comprehensible order.

ClaudineClare · 06/06/2022 12:59

Patel seem to be keeping a low profile. Maybe she thinks she is in with a shot as leader. 😃

Notonthestairs · 06/06/2022 12:59

I think that was the redoubtable Natalie Elphicke MP for Dover. The MP that turned up to support sacked P&O workers and was booed out of town.

That was comprehensive. I wish they’d carried it on into his premier cv.

She’s always kept out of the limelight when all eyes are on them - the uncontrollable smirking is damage before she even utters a word.

Notonthestairs · 06/06/2022 13:20

Mark Pawsey (Rugby MP) coming out to say he no longer supports the PM.

Notonthestairs · 06/06/2022 13:25

"Conservative MP tells me that a significant amount of arm twisting is going on to get them to tweet support for Boris Johnson. The ring round is in full swing."

Not exactly a ringing endorsement.
