Thanks Rousette Brew

the80sweregreat · 19/05/2022 17:40

This will drag on till Christmas at this rate.

Piggywaspushed · 19/05/2022 17:41

Thank you!

balalake · 19/05/2022 17:59

My guess is the Sue Grey report being published when Parliament is in recess.

This will drag on till Christmas at this rate.

If the long game is not having a Conservative government trying to enrich their mates by destroying the country, then this is a good thing.
If though the aim is just to get shot of Johnson in the hope there are some decent Conservatives left who used to look like they cared, then it is less good.

derxa · 19/05/2022 18:05

Thanks

itsgettingweird · 19/05/2022 18:47

I've commented on last thread!

Thanks for new one.

I'm even more confused now about who he is paying off what's going on.

guinnessguzzler · 19/05/2022 18:51

Do we think Sue Gray's report will be enlightening or have a significant impact? Genuine question! A sneak peak summary in any case: 'The man's a lying bag of lies' 😂

Roussette · 19/05/2022 19:43

If it's unredacted I think it will be very damaging.

Apparently Johnson will be making a statement in Parliament next week when it's released.

itsgettingweird · 19/05/2022 19:57

What's he going to say?

"I realise it's confusing why my wife and I weren't fined for having a party in our flat but the guests were?"

It's a farce.

Blossomtoes · 19/05/2022 20:12

Thanks @Roussette.

ilovesooty · 19/05/2022 20:19

Thank you.

It doesn't matter what the report says or how damaging it is. Johnson has no shame.

Roussette · 19/05/2022 21:25

^Boris Johnson was told by Scotland Yard that he would only be investigated for two lockdown gatherings in Downing Street, sources have claimed.
The Mirror has been told the Prime Minister was informed by the Met Police that he would be subjected to a limited probe as part of the four-month inquiry^

If this is true, and to be honest I don't doubt it.... WHY?

"All that fuss and 2 fpns."

Complete stitch up by Met -Sajid Javid's brother 'oversaw PartyGate. We are now a corrupt state.

Blossomtoes · 19/05/2022 21:51

We are now a corrupt state

And have been for nearly three years. It’s time it stopped.

Notonthestairs · 19/05/2022 22:53

"Forget my legal musings - according to this the answer is simpler… the PM was not investigated for 4 of the 6 events he attended! 🤷🏼‍♂️😬"

Thanks for the new thread. I am celebrating my football team not getting relegated so just marking my place for now Wine

Notonthestairs · 19/05/2022 23:28

So Downing Street have been asked if Johnson was told that he would only be investigated for 2 of the 6 parties he attended - they have refused to comment but did not deny.

Seems very odd...

cakeorwine · 20/05/2022 00:32

One thing we can be sure of:

Guidance was not followed in Downing Street.

As Johnson told us at PMQs.

So if it turns out he was at a party in Downing Street where people who attended got fined but he did not get fined - then he must have been aware that guidance was not being followed in Downing Street - or he wasn't aware of the guidance. If he was aware of the guidance, then surely as PM, he would have told people to go home as they were not following guidance.

Roussette · 20/05/2022 06:53

Thinking of BJ's character... I wonder if he has this need to be liked? So he lets the parties carry on, because he wants to be popular?

No excuse, no backbone when he should have been putting a stop to it. He must be weak. And before anyone comes on here to say he only got 1 FPN. He was only investigated for 2 out of the 6 parties he attended and lied about them to Parliament. He knew.

OP posts:
ClaudineClare · 20/05/2022 07:05

No wonder he only got 1 FPN.

Hopefully there will be now be a huge fuss over this out and out corruption.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 20/05/2022 07:06

What an absolute farce. Justice is dead in the UK.

carefullycourageous · 20/05/2022 07:13

I am veryConfused that only one FPN was issued to Johnson, and pretty Angry about those people who were given £10,000 fines and a criminal record.

I think one of the worst aspects of all this, for me, is that if in the near future we do have need for public health restrictions, Johnson has trashed all faith in the government to a) follow their own rules and b) mean what they say.

I agree this is a good outcome for Lib Dems and Labour. On QT last night the Tory was trying to say we should move on, but the audience were not very supportive of that - my guess is that only hardcore Tories are 'fine' with the outcome. Many people have more pressing issues - money for example! - but that doesn't mean they are fine with this situation. Most people are able to be bothered about more than one issue at once.

Roussette · 20/05/2022 07:18

This is spot on... well worth a read

www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/may/19/boris-johnson-faces-down-the-met-as-the-little-people-get-fines-over-partygate?CMP=share_btn_tw

Just a snippet....
Then there was the “Do what you like” culture of No 10. There would be hell to pay when Johnson found out who was in charge of Downing Street. The man – if it was a man – must have been half asleep most of the time. No one had been more shocked than the Convict that all these parties had taken place right under his nose. Some had been arranged so secretively that people such as him hadn’t even been aware they were taking place even when they were actually at them. That was the level of deception going on

If that really is true we need to know exactly who made the agreement and why. I'm wondering if it was Cressida Dick's parting shot.
