I persuaded DH to have a go at this today but he wasn't impressed. Huffing and puffing about the words not making any sense, what on earth is this word to do with that, bloody American words ...

88 today but I did have to cheat and use the thesaurus after about 30 greens and still at a loss!

@hotchocdrinker word goes after 988 late on. Not your own 988.

72 for me today, mingled a bit too long in the high 990s before eventually hitting the right one. Pretty logical, but there is another meaning (in fact at least 2) to this word and I'm amazed that they barely get a feature in the related words - maybe one or two.

I haven't played this game as long as most of you, but is this normal? Almost all the related words are very much along one particular line of thought, whereas there are at least two other meanings that I would quickly associate with this word that I thought would feature heavily.

Do they reduce the list to focus on one aspect of the selected word?

@Tiredandbored - there is no 'they' only AI which analyses how the words are used in Google News. So it's not that the list is manually trimmed, but that often one meaning / use of the word is more prominent in the news than others, which makes the list appear biased.

I am at 102 guesses and not got answer yet! Got 970 quite early on and quite a few green ones between 600 and 899. Only one other answer over 900 (943). Running out of synonyms…!

You need to think more along antonyms / related words of 970 and 943. The target word is not a synonym of these.
