My late husband was a paratrooper (UK) and SF. I remember the strategic talks and grumblings for hours on end between deployments. It's odd at the time they would bore me, but now I'd happily listen to a 2 hour lecture from him, just to hear is voice again.

I read that warning re geolocation before I went to sleep. I've just woken up from a dream where I was in a city under enemy attack and had to hide.

I don't really use Twitter tbh or only for people like Liese Ducet etc. I'm very open to best news source definitely, sort of assumed after the Egypt uprising a few years ago that Twitter was ahead of the game in that respect. Happy to be corrected though.

TBF, my post was probably a bit unfair! As am aware that respected reporters/commentators have verified accounts. I’m a bit curmudgeonly re SM - hate Twitter/FB etc, so was a kneejerk reaction.

Im happy to be corrected too.

Think one of my “biggest” fears is that it’s so easy for misinformation to be spread - so I can be a bit overzealous with regards to knowing that info is correct.

Yup, too much information overload all the time.

One half of me envies the younger generation - access to so much info/knowledge. The other half says thank god my childhood/teen years didn’t have SM.

Morning folks, checking in. Kyiv lives to see another day. They are now in total lockdown as to control anyone on the streets after Russian soldiers were found disguised and arrested. I see that Germany is finally signing up to the removal of 'some' Russian banks from Swift, so it is a start. Overnight Chechnya has sent thousands of troops to support Ukraine, they are experienced and savage and used to dealing with Russia.

No it's not what the Russians want. It's what Putin wants. He's nuts. People in Russia have been demonstrating against his actions.

The curfew appears to be in place now until Monday in Kyiv.

What would Putin do if all the NATO countries sent troops in to Ukraine to overthrow the Russian invaders?
Surely he's not nuts enough to press the button as that would most likely end up in MAD & surely he's not that deranged enough to wipe the whole world out.

Although I know it's happening I still can't get my head around what's happening - it's like the world has flipped into a parallel universe circa 2016 whereas previously the world wasn't perfect but it was a darn sight better & easier to live in.
