WTF just came out of my arse??!!

NOT A POO TROLL!!

Been for a poo, and basically a bit of poo was hanging on something that looked like dental floss. I pulled the rest out EnvyConfused and it was about 25-30cm in length! The consistency of stretchy, stringy dental floss.

Any suggestions? It didn't look segmented so I'm hoping it's not a tapeworm!

Oh you poor thing. It didn't look like a worm to me. My guess is vegetable matter. Have you eaten stir fry or vegetable curry recently that it could have been hidden in - could it be a piece of husk/hair from a corn on the cob?

I think we need a list of everything you've eaten in the last 48 hours or so.

I'm afraid that it does look quite like a tapeworm that died in your gut a while ago. It could then have collected bits of fibrous tissue as it passed through your bowels. It is a pity that you didn't keep it - you could have asked your GP Practice for a specimen bag, and they could have sent it off for what a pp funnily called ANALysis.

If you feel fine OP you might as well leave it this time, but check your faeces for smaller bits in the meantime, and if you get another long one, or what looks like pieces of the same thing, get that specimen bag and take it to the surgery.

I think it looks like stringy vegetable matter to me too, it looks like the stringy part of a green banana skin Confused it could be something you at a while back that's been stuck in your bowel?

What I've eaten:

Yesterday: soup and bread; spag Bol; chocolate; couple of snack bars

Wednesday: ploughman's for lunch; chicken with peppers and jacket potato; snack bar

Even though I can't pinpoint anything I've eaten that would result in this, I am leaning towards it being vegetable rather than animal. I guess I'll never know!

I found a funny picture whilst googling though - maybe there's a gap in the market for "fibre art" GrinGrin

Threadworms are horribly itchy too. I think I would keep an eye on it and if it happens again see a pharmacist. Also, and I’m not a doctor, don’t the sort of worms you get if you’ve been abroad make you feel I’ll too?

Hope your ok it does sound a bit traumatic!

I’m still thinking roundworm having seen the photo OP. For comparison this is a baby roundworm (around 2-3 weeks into the cycle that came out of my puppy’s backside 🤢

I once had something a bit like this. I realised it was the fatty string bit of Parma ham (that I'd scoffed half a packet of the day before).
