WTF just came out of my arse??!!

NOT A POO TROLL!!

Been for a poo, and basically a bit of poo was hanging on something that looked like dental floss. I pulled the rest out and it was about 25-30cm in length! The consistency of stretchy, stringy dental floss.

Any suggestions? It didn't look segmented so I'm hoping it's not a tapeworm!

I think that I might actually have the answer!! I have just ordered some very nice fresh tacos. And then I pulled out something very similar from my taco and thought of you (erm, thanks for that!). It was a really long thin, slightly elastic piece of onion. I even tasted it just to double check (I'm going above and beyond for you here OP!). It was definitely onion. Was about 8 inches long and looked like cotton. If I pull it out the other end I'll let you know! 😉

But when you say you've got worms, doesn't that generally mean threadworms? This was 10-12 INCHES.

Looks like fibres so probably some kind of veg you ate. I have had tapeworms and when they come out they are flat, transparent and you can see the segments.

100% that is a fibre string. Caused by constipation or IBS. Look up ‘string of pearls disease’. If it’s a one off then don’t worry about it, unless you have other concerning symptoms such as ; pain, bloating, bleeding etc.
I work in pathology, so this comes from professional knowledge. It’s quite common. We’ve had people sending in all sorts thinking it was a worm.

Sounds like threadworms. And yes, they can get really long! You can buy over the counter one dose treatment for them in the pharmacy. I think it's called Ovex

Round worms are extremely rare in the UK unless you've been abroad to someplace like Africa, China etc. Tape worms are flat and break up into segments.

Are you sure it came out your bum? I'm genuinely interested only because I work in microbiology and we get stuff like this sent to us fairly frequently.
We've never had it be a worm yet if the patient has no travel history.

My money is on a strip of gut lining or vegetable fibre, or actual dental floss!

I had a rather disturbed patient keep bringing samples of 'worms' and not a single one was a worm. I felt so sorry for the poor lab staff, but more sorry for the patient as they were clearly very unwell.

Just caught up, absolutely delighted there was a a photo. I'm going with fibrous matter and not worm. But gutted you flushed it as your GP surgery would have wanted to send it off (sorry path lab people!).

It could be a thread worm or maybe the remnants from haemorrhoids
I would be inclined to see a doctor if it becomes a regular thing.
