WTF just came out of my arse??!!

NOT A POO TROLL!!

Been for a poo, and basically a bit of poo was hanging on something that looked like dental floss. I pulled the rest out EnvyConfused and it was about 25-30cm in length! The consistency of stretchy, stringy dental floss.

Any suggestions? It didn't look segmented so I'm hoping it's not a tapeworm!

Salami casing?

Ilove · 25/02/2022 21:44

I really do think this is the most sane post on Mumsnet right now

EmpressCixi · 25/02/2022 21:44

Celery string.

HalfaShilling · 25/02/2022 21:52

Blegh.

Time now to let this thread die?

I just sat down to eat my dinner and its put me right off! Fucking gross.

Undecicive · 25/02/2022 22:01

I can't believe there was an actual photo...

OP, any chance of you sleepwalking into the garden and grazing overnight? I can also confirm removing similar grasses from dog bums before.

TheChosenTwo · 25/02/2022 22:20

Maybe I’m just too used to dealing with poo (had twin baby niece and nephew to stay recently!) but I wouldn’t have thought twice about this and just flushed it and gone about my daily life Confused
Not that I regularly have to pull anything out of my arse of course but I think I have occasionally swallowed some of my own hair - I’m talking maybe once every 5 years or something - and just dealt with it at the time!
Not once have I ever started panicking about words or sending it to a doctor!!

Galvantula · 25/02/2022 22:20

@Classica

Look around and see if you can find a teeny weeny hat that may also have been ejected at the same time.
10/10 for getting Lowly in a thread 🪱💪
Backtomyoldname · 25/02/2022 22:32

DIY with some Bob Martin’s worming tablets!

Possibly better to chat to a chemist though.

So why would you click on a thread with such a descriptive title?
Wobblypig · 25/02/2022 22:56

Have you eaten any tinned food opened with a tin-opener? Sometimes you strip of a bit of the label off which ends up in the food. It doesn’t look very wormy to me

Theunamedcat · 25/02/2022 23:28

Was there lettuce in the ploughman's?

AndStand · 25/02/2022 23:34

100% that is NOT a worm.
My dear old Dad came back from Malaysia with a 30ft tapeworm and there's no way your pic is one of those.
Threadworms are tiny, DS had those. And it's not a roundworm either, it's far too thin.
It's either something fibrous you've eaten or you've sloughed a bit of bowel lining.

Alright, you useless smart arse. I saw the title as I sat down to eat, on the panel on the right. I'd already read the contents of the thread earlier in the day and hoped it would have dropped off out of view by now.

Alright with you?

So you thought you’d open the thread and post on it just to make sure you were really disgusted?
MissMaple82 · 25/02/2022 23:57

Bit of green runner bean ? That's happened to me before

horsemadgal · 26/02/2022 00:21

Looks like tangled hair to me

MrsHGWells · 26/02/2022 00:23

Udon noodle or maybe your internal ripcord from your belly button has detached

WaitingForSunshineAndDaisies · 26/02/2022 00:29

It's not a worm.

Roundworms - human ones not really found in the UK, looks like a sort of pale earthworm without the 'saddle'. We get sent loads of earthworms in my lab by people thinking they're roundworms.

Tapeworm - flat, made up of lots of rectangular segments. Can be extremely long, but not string like. Also rarely found in the UK as food production is checked and has to conform to set standards.

Threadworm (sometimes called pinworm) - about 1 cm long, white, wriggly and tapered at each end. Mainly affects young children.

There are other human parasitic worms worldwide (eg Strongyloides, microfilarial worms, Dracunculus, hookworms etc etc if you fancy googling and grossing yourself out), but none look like that and are found in your stools.

The most common one we see is Ascaris lumbricoides (roundworm) and in human samples we might see that once every 6 months or so, usually from someone who's just come back from traveling.

And please don't use dog worming tablets as someone suggested Confused. Why would anyone do that!

The unexplained, we need fox mulder and Dana scully,

That aside, all the best op.

Bromse · 26/02/2022 01:03

All right, half a shilling, calm down, all right?

I'm sure it is nothing to worry about, op, some things just go through us, not properly digested. I can remember seeing mushrooms once, looking just the same as they had been on my plate :-).

Bromse · 26/02/2022 01:08

@FrankGrillosFloof

I always swallow my gum and have never noticed it turning into a poo worm

Wtf? Am I the only one more traumatised by this revelation than by OP’s bumhole excretion?

When I was a youngster I was told that swallowed gum attached itself to the appendix and caused appendicitis. You really should stick it on your bedpost for safe keeping.

I must remember to take my 'phone into the lavatoilet from now on, to photograph what comes out before it is flushed away.

Mines usually sweetcorn
Bromse · 26/02/2022 01:38

My cat produced sweetcorn once when she was little, she nicked some food off a plate.

BurgerKingAddict · 26/02/2022 05:25

I bet there’s a whole family of them hanging around up there.

Milomonster · 26/02/2022 07:11

@wobblypig 10/10 for tin opener string. That sure is one of the most niche suspects compared with the worm/fibre responses. StarStarStar
